That 80’s team was really, really good! Just had the misfortune of being in the loaded East with powerhouses like the Sixers and Celtics. Sidney Moncrief, Junior Bridgeman, Brian Winters, Alton Lister, Bob Lanier, etc. Man those were good times!

There are 10 players who get lost in discussions. Some of them are HoF layers, but they still don’t receive enough credit. Michael Ray Richardson Alex English Marques Johnson Jamal Wilkes Bob McAdoo Fred Brown Gus Williams Dennis Johnson Jack Sikma Joe Dumars All killers on the floor. I’d throw in Stephon Marbury. People didn’t like his attitude but there has never been a more all-around talented PG…

He was a great, great player. Not sure why he is not as respected as others in that era. He was a top 20 player. Could do it all. And yes the Bucks teams were great, but the East was rough during that era. Boston, Knicks, Sixers, Hawks. Their roster was loaded with shooters/scorers.

@@RJNumber45 No. He was not Kawhi equal as a defender. He was way better offensively. This MJ was a better athlete than KL. This MJ played like he looked. He had a 'handsome game.' Kawhi is rugged and stronger. This MJ was a great leaper too. Kawhi is not a great leaper. Another problem this MJ had was that he was too active with the ladies. People have told me this.

I remember Marques Johnson at UCLA. He was like the Julius Erving of college basketball-lol In the league, if not for the bs and the injuries, he would have been top 25 all time. At the SF position, it was Julius and Larry Bird then Marques Johnson and Bernard King, and then Dominique. Julius and Larry had that extra something and Dom was flying through the air. But not one of them, nor anybody else, wanted any part of Marques Johnson (or BK). If Scottie, was smoother and could roll out of bed and give you 25-30 a night? That would be Marques Johnson. He was a special, special talent
@gregyoung3278
@gregyoung3278 Жыл бұрын
When I think about Marques: He had more ability than all of the players you mentioned. He was not allowed to do more. He could do it all. He was a great athlete too. He screwed himself with the drugs. I believe his talent and skill was better than player I can think of....including his fan Michael Jordan.

@@gregyoung3278 I think those Bucks teams had too much talent to allow one guy to be the show. Look what happened to Julius when he got to Philly. But in terms of the talent assessment? Wouldn't disagree with you. He was a bad dude.

@@clh2192 I agree and disagree here. This MJ did not have that greedy and dominate gene in him. Kobe and Jordan had that regardless of what team or coach . This MJ stayed his perfect game self.
@clh2192
@clh2192 Жыл бұрын
You know what. No one had that "dominate" gene at that time. Mike was the first one. Look at Julius. He was the biggest name in the game when he arrived in Philly. But instead of demanding the ball, he tried to fit in with McGinnis and Collins. That's the way basketball was. Team ball. Mike is the one who made it a "do for self" endeavor-lol. And, that wasn't his goal. Remember, Mike is a UNC guy. Knows how to play with four other players. Mike didn't become "Mike" until after Woolridge and Dailey left. Off the field issues aside, they could put the ball in the basket. And there was no punk in them-lol. But when Pippen became the second option. Mike was like "F that! I'm shooting"-lol. That's when he started winning those scoring titles. For better or worse, Mike made greatness a solo effort. To me it's for worse.

“Respected” is put out of context and basically relegated to fan or media opinion. Both those opinions are nothing or total crap. Ballers pay neither any attention cause Ballers know Ballers and respect every aspect of each others game. And know for sure when healthy they better be on their A game every contest. Perfect example displayed here, fans outside of the Bucks and media never mention Marquis much, but the GOAT himself mentioned him in of all places “The Last Dance”.
