There are definitely things that only Lebron can do. He is one of a kind of superstar. Only Lebron can perform poorly and blame role-players. Only him can change everybody in a roster and coaching staff but still lose without being suspected as the common denominator of the failures. Only him can be visibly doing nothing in the court and be continuously praised by announcers. And lastly, only Lebron cares about keeping his averages up and leave his team mates to fend for themselves and lose so at least he has stats and fg% to show during the post-game interview.

I personally don’t think it’s close. No matter what Lebron accomplishes, he is nowhere near as great a basketball player as MJ, or Kobe for that matter. I think the reason why current nba players still have MJ is because they play with/against Lebron & know his game is nothing special outside of him being a freak athlete & defeating him when competing against him. Meanwhile players of yesteryear speaking on MJ, watching highlights, the championships (2 3 peats, after realizing how hard it is to get just ONE), gives them enough information to understand just how great MJ was as a basketball player. Watching film/games, paying attention to his footwork, ability to create space, dissecting the defense, his midrange/post game, mentality, will to win, etc… comparing that to what they see in Lebron. I think it’s pretty easy for them, like it is for those of us who watched both players in real time.

Also if Paxson and Kerr miss their shots it’s only game 6 and Bulls are still favored to win. Those were close-out shots, not series-changing shots. The Spurs straight up win if Ray Allen misses. Or, at the very least, the odds go to 99.99% chance the Spurs win. If Kyrie misses, the Cavs still have a chance to win, but the odds would have immediately swung in favor of GS to win if he misses. Thats the biggest difference IMO

Right. Designed plays. Allen's 3 was a broken play. The Kyrie shot, LeBron didn't want NO PARTS of the ball. It was ALL Kyrie. In typical LeBron fashion, when the game was basically over in game 7 of 2016, he drove and attempted a dunk. And in Diva fashion, he fell to the floor like he was shot for the drama effect.

People have the perpencity to want to be around greatness, not just reminisce on it. Thats why when something truly great comes around, they quickly want it to be the greatest. So the fact that the majority of people still think a man who hasnt played in 20+ years is still the greatest, and many of them weren't even old enough to see him play in person? That tells you the new *GREATEST* hasnt come around yet. Lebron is upset that hes not the undisputed goat but honestly him continuing to play has only hurt his argument because the more he plays at this advance age its only revealing the flaws that his youthful athletasism was able to mask.

There are to many coveats to Lebron being the G.O.A.T. Arguably, he has one of the best cases for being a 1st ballot H.O.F player. However, there are to many other players in front of him in the G.O.A.T conversation . Most things about him are narrative driven and aren't actual accomplishments. When the chips were on the line, somebody needed to bail him out. He has played with more all stars than anyone else in NBA history (that's not hyperbole either). If Ray Allen didn't hit the shot in game 6, if Kyrie don't hit the shot in game 7 and if A D doesn't ball out in the bubble. If Wade doesn't differ to him after he stunk it up in their first finals run. I think he's a great all-star, but far from the G.O.A.T conversation. Analytics are stats without context. When you put the context behind his inflated numbers. This man loses a lot and his teammates and coaches gets the blame.

These young kids just don't really watch basketball. they see basketball, but they don't watch it. They don't know how to analyze the game and evaluate players. If can look at these two players and not see that one has a much more vast array of skills, you just don't want to see it. I don't care about his longevity. I think it's overrated. You should have longevity when we have medical advances like never before, you have access to millions of dollars to spend on your body and nutrition, you stop playing one end of the floor about halfway through your career, and no one else in the league is playing defense. These Lebron fans will blow the comments up if someone their own age reacts to MJ like they've never seen. They're big mad people their own age are amazed by MJ. Longevity is an overrated stat. Once Lebron retires and we see that more players are playing longer careers, his longevity won't help him anymore.

Great overall commentary and assessment, where is the context and believablity that Lebron James can be a part of a conversation related to the GOAT status of the NBA? Lets place some perspective on table, Lebron James has never created or been a part of a dynasty, he has never own any Era he's played in, and none of his championship teams he has won with is in the top 5 of the greatest Championship teams in history. There is no relevant impact that he has provided to the NBA. Absolutely no college players entering the NBA in the last several years or so model there game behind him. Who own the league by the era's, in the 60s it Russell, in the 70s it was a combination of teams, in the 80s it was Magic and Bird, in the 90's the GOAT, in the 2000's it was Shaq, Duncan and Kobe, from 2014 to 2022 it was Warriors with the Raptors, Bucks, and Denver all collecting Championships along the way. Lebron Who?????

Nope, even if he plays another 5 years, he can't close the gap, and he will (I first said this back in 2020 after the Mickey Mouse ring) not win any more rings. Not 2021 Check, Not 2022 Check, Not 2023 check, Not 2024 check.

@@theformatpodcast1847 i disagree!!! Defense Win Championships!!! Bill Russell known for its defense and Rebounding prowess!!! That's why he won sonmany titles!!! 50 Pts are useless if no one play Defense that's why we see many NBA player now got defeated even scoring 40-50pts!!! For me defense is far more important than scoring!!! Cuz basketball anyone now can score but only few can play Defense!!! That's why Jordan is Lucky to have Pippen and Rodman!!! Even Rodman manage to win 2 back to back Champion without "MJ" With his superior Rebounding ability!!!! Too bad MJ stole all tge credit from the guy

MJ is the GOAT,. Lebron can never be. But I do understand these Lebrun fans who didnt see him play. They cannot compare MJ. There resource are only YOutube videos. They were not in that moment were MJ was like a Pied piper. Everyone wants to be like Mike. all stadiums he went into were full. The debates nowadays are mainly: Lebron is the GOAT, his teammates are trash. He carried the team, he played in the modern talented era.. MJ teammates carried him. without Pippen he is nothing, he plays in a weak era. thats mainly the lebums arguments which is pure BS

Sorry but cant view jordan as the goat since i know that the league did not allow double teams and zone defense at that time lol, everything was tailor made so he could dominate , im not a lebron fan by any means, i in fact hate the lakers with a passion but at least he has the longevity dominating in multiple eras and beeing a top 10 player for over 20 years. Jordan has 6 rings on a superteam where its fair to ask if he gets even close to that number if scottie pippen doesnt sign one of the worst contracts in nba history... Sorry old heads, we done with the 90s
@theformatpodcast1847
@theformatpodcast1847 Ай бұрын
But you're wrong. Go do the research. By rule there was no zone allowed but MJ regularly faced it. He also regularly faced double teams. As for the super team nonsense, stop that. MJ played with TWO top 75 players, LeBron played with Six. I beleive MJ teammates had a combined eight AS selections; LeBrons, more than ONE HUNDRED. MJ dominated at a level and did more in 15yrs than LeBron has in 21. By sayong: Sorry old heads, werm're done w the 90s, you gave yourseld away. Do some research. Thanks for the feedback and support. Lebron is not even one of the best Lakers, he is not the best Miami Heat player, he can be the best Cavalier. Teams have catered to his need for stats, teammates box out for him to have the rebound, he cherry picks for points, nobody will guard him outside the paint because he is a bad shooter. He is the elon trump of basketball. False claims about himself make a small pocket of fanboys go rabid with adulation.
