A lot of the layups he made couldn't have been duplicated by any player in NBA history. Think about that. With all the freakish athletes and the popularity of basketball, his skill set is still that unique. One of the best leapers ever, HUGE hands, dexterity, creativity... I almost never say "there will never be another ______", but with MJ, it's true.

The key is “improvisation”. Almost 99% of players, including elite athletes such as Kobe, KD, Bron, Tmac..ect. jumped up “planning” to do a reverse layup, while MJ was planning to dunk but “changed” his mind in the middle of his “flight!”

Even if Jordan played today he would still be other worldly in his athleticism and skills. But watching these kinds of highlights demonstrates the massive gap in athleticism between Jordan and the average NBA player at the time. That average NBA player today has closed that gap quite a lot.

...and make sure you pay attention to the TOUCH!!! Watch how softly the ball bounces off the rim. All that movement to end with such a soft touch is truly amazing.

I feel so damn lucky to have been around to watch MJ during those prime years. WHEW. Young folks can't fully understand the gloriousness of Jordan without having seen him back then.

Thank goodness I have the chance to watch every televised bull's game... I couldn't afford it when it was young...great 90s basketball games (college and NBA)

6 foot 6 inches , vertical 48 inches combined with a 4.3 sec in 40 yards and skill and hard work , and an insane killer mentality you got yourself micheal Jordan

40 is irrelevant in basketball. MJ had near Iverson level quickness at his height. insane.

Wtf bro! No matter how many years pass and no one can make it look as clean and smooth as Jordan. He makes it look so effortless. I see others try to mimic this and it looks so forced and awkward. Jordan was insane.

No one will ever match his combo of strength and smoothness. Unreal.

Only saw D. Rose do some of these. It meant that you really had to get into someone's face and space. It caused many ballers injuries except Jordan for some reason

Jordan had the height, wingspan and large hands plus great core control.

@@jaulj8was just about to say that,he blocks his face with his arms, he dips around people at the last sec and he's pretty strong. His grip is serious, he went through the Pistons, someone blocked the ball and he pushed straight through and laid it up...cool
