This is a top40 of Michael Jordan when he was a Tar heel in North Caroline between 1981 and 1984.

I started watching basketball his freshman year. I still remember seeing the cradle dunk in '84 and we all had the same reaction as the announcer. We couldn't even process what the hell we just saw! Then his awesomeness at the Olympics. If you haven't seen Bobby Knight talk about him, it's remarkable. Fun side note: I attended the UNC camp in '84 and '85. Just for fun, Dean Smith would have a game with the college kids versus the pros. Jordan's junior year, they beat the pros. I asked the coaches how often that happened. They laughed and said, "Never!" Then after his rookie year, he told Coach Smith he wanted to play with the college kids for a challenge. They were going against Worthy, Perkins, Davis, Ford, etc. and Jordan ANNIHILATED them. It was a spectacle.

Everyone forgets the shot jordan made right before his game winner against Georgetown in 82. It was an absurd, high bank layup over patrick Ewing in one of the most pressure packed moments in bball history.
@barrymorrow931610 ай бұрын
I didn’t forget. That showed what kind of player he was. I think Ewing himself was amazed.
@victorlassiter88278 ай бұрын
It's true, that layup was bigger than the shot with 17 seconds, or as big, don't let me get carried away. His 12 second half points after just 4 in the first half, was a big reason why James Worthy got six grown man dunks in that game. They HAD to bring two on Michael when he went to work.
@mjhowar335 жыл бұрын
Amazing video, but you missed one dude. It's one everyone misses. Before Jordan hit the winner in 82 against Georgetown, he hits the previous basket as well which is a ridiculous left handed layup over Ewing. That's the biggest basket of the game and the degree of difficulty is ridiculous. No one ever mentions it coz of the game winner. Keep up the good work

The thing that is so remarkable is that he was just a kid and he knew what God had given him and devoted his life to give the game of basketball all of him not some his perfection spoke for itself I have so much love and respect for him I wish I could be like mike I'm 74 years and it's very difficult to stay true to yourself he had to disconnect every thing and everyone to get there and he made it sacrifice is not easy

Wisti, excellent vid my friend! Had never seen 40 highlight plays from his UNC days! The word back then was that Coach D. Smith sort of kept him harnessed or under wraps. Your vid proves otherwise!!! Great job! Wow, just looking at the few highlights you have here, I still can't figure what the heck Portland was thinking by not drafting him back in the 80's. I'm not complaining though, because that gave my Bulls, being a Chicago native the opportunity of a lifetime, "That is to have The G.O.A.T. Play for them and provide six Chips for the Franchise and City".....

People attribute too much of Jordan's success to his leaping ability and hang time. In very few of these highlights is his head even a foot near the rim. According to Coaches Smith and Knight Jordan's greatness came from his anticipation and cat-like reflexes.

Kal-El, I've only seen him once, playing during his College days live. It was during a College all-star game that was held in Atlanta at the "Then Omni Coliseum". I will never forget this play! I remember the game being pretty much decided with MJ's team being ahead. The audience seemed restless, me included, because we were seeing alot of nice plays and overall good basketball, but it was almost like something was missing. All of a sudden MJ stole a pass on the baseline gave it to a guard, (Don't Remember His Name, But I Do Remember That He Played For Georgia Tech), ran behind him, up the sideline like a gazelle sprinting towards the foul line which was where he received a return pass. He went airborn after catching the pass after taking one step near the dotted circle which is just inside the foul line! I distinctly remember we all stood up. It was like this was what everyone was waiting on, and everyone in the Omni knew it!!! Kal-El He stayed in the air so long it all most looked awkward, like it was weird for a human to travel or glide such a distance in the air without being catapulted/hurled upwards toward the rim by some machine or other device. I'm not making this up, but it was as if, "He Sensed That The Crowd In Attendance Need Something To Talk About Going Home"! He finished the play by dunking the ball so hard, it came back up from the floor and hit the bottom of the backboard favoring the one side of it which caused the ball to carerome out of bounds and the ref had to run and retrieve it. After the play there was nothing but noise, chatter, screaming and naturally a standing ovation!!! We were satisfied, just off of the one highlight and Oh man was that ever impressive! He had done or made those plays, so many times throughout his NBA Career! I being a Chicago fan have the VHS Tapes, and DVD's to prove it! But just that one time I got the opportunity to see him LIVE and it was 💯!!! Something Special that I'll never ever forget..... As you can see, your comment brought it back to mind for me, as though it happened yesterday😊! Pretty lengthy text, but I hope you didn't mind me sharing...
