Michael K. Williams has appeared in some of our favorite shows including “The Wire” and “Boardwalk Empire.” He’s also starred in many films like “12 Years a Slave” and “When They See Us.” His latest project, a movie called “Body Brokers,” explores drug addiction. It follows junkies living on the streets of rural Ohio, who are brought to Los Angeles for drug treatment. Michael joins “Tamron Hall” to talk about his latest offering, he also opens up about his own battle with substance abuse, and how meeting Barack Obama before he was president changed his life.

Jimmy and Kaia - Could not agree more. I was shopping in a little thrift when the news about Prince broke, and the sweet grannies volunteers just did not understand. I went outside, connected with two young women, broke it to them and we had a group hug/cry. I needed people who also felt the same loss to grieve with. And now Michael. The planet really has become a lesser place since they left, and I really miss them.

@@manaulhoque6507 i agree with the notion that God makes us how we are for a reason. Here’s the definition of crown - “ An ornamental circlet or head covering, often made of precious metal set with jewels and worn as a symbol of sovereignty. “ God did not make anyone with one of these naturally on their head at birth. Humans put the crown on their head to symbolize power/sovereignty/rule over other humans.

@@PhilM4 thank you that means a lot coming from a stranger and I really mean that. I’m going on 2+ years clean after 10+ years using opiates. It starts with yourself, if you don’t want to stop no one can make you. Enough was enough for me, I was sick and tired of being sick and tired/that life style. Since then I’ve accomplished so much and this is just the beginning. Sadly I lost one of my best friends/cousin to heroin shortly after getting clean myself and it was a huge wake up call. I was with him the night before and had been trying to get him help by any means and he was ready himself. It doesn’t discriminate and is an epidemic in this country. I’m thankful for every single day I wake up despite the struggle. I know you’re watching over me Jimmy and I miss you bro. Ill see you again one day. Give pops a hug for me. I watched this interview when it aired and it felt good to hear a man be so transparent. When I read the news article that Michael K. Williams was dead, I thought... "Please don't tell me that that beautiful black man that was on the Tamron Hall Show didn't fall back into his addiction... Please don't tell me that that beautiful black man is dead." 🤦🏾‍♀️ I desperately cheered for him and prayed for him. He is the reason why I wanted to start bike riding again and did so for the first time in nearly 20 years... while on vacation this summer. He made me believe that this 50 year old grandmother could do it and I rode with my grandson. He made me feel like I could over come my addiction to sugar and win the battle against anxiety, depression and self defeating thoughts. I'm so very sorry that his addiction took him out of here. I pray that he is now at peace. God bless you Michael K. Williams. You are and always will be special. 💔

Again, addiction has stolen many lives, often time's to death. It is apparent, that "celebrities," society's chosen word, not mine are more prone to succumb to addiction's lure bc "they" have the resources to overindulge. RIP Michael. It was always exciting to watch you work.

He posted a week ago about his new upcoming film project. . Who would have thought this would happen? Celebrities are human just like us all. No one knows what goes on behind closed doors, except the ones behind them. The struggle is real. My heart aches. Rest on Michael Kenneth Williams. You will never, ever be forgotten.

@@arayasunshine9172 Did we watch the same video? Most people who abuse drugs or substances are suffering from things not visible to onlookers. Pain often times become tenants In the homes of our bodies and everyone doesn’t get the chance to evict it. I think as humans having compassion for those battling the unknown will make the world a little better .

@@BabzBoop Yeah, we "watched the same thing." Guess you didn't get my point. Actors, singers, athletes, and the like are just as human as the rest of humanity. "Celebrity" does NOT exempt a human being from the woes of this world; maybe in the the minds of some.

Wow!! I couldn’t help but tear up. What an incredible human being; that lived his life, trauma and scars openly for the world to see. A lot of truly brilliant actors embody and become the work...and that can sometimes be a blessing or a curse. I’m going to miss him.

I'm glad I get to see him speak here. However, there's a lot to be said for the media/interviewers not asking questions that poke into trauma and other triggering stuff. I glad Tamron's questions had some balance. May his vulnerable, sensitive, generous soul rest well. Beautiful brother inside and out.

Yeah but it would be irresponsible for an interviewer to open up all those wounds without knowing how to safely bring him out of that rehashing of the traumatic events in his life.
@loveheals6184
@loveheals6184 2 жыл бұрын
@@hopetrnr0 we're very much in agreement. This is precisely my concern. I get that some topics are there as part of a project, but it's deeply unethical how we've been conditioned to expect folks to be open and transparent about deep wounds and further gouge themselves for our entertainment and with no disclosure on our end. No one who is woefully unqualified to bring the person back into equilibrium should expose them. And I daresay those equipped to handle it would know it's unethical to take them there gratuitously. I'd have the same position if every interviewer/journalist wanted Ms. Hall to relive the family trauma of decades ago that I'll leave unwritten here. That goes for all bosses, including network heads.
