I could sit down at a camp fire and just listen to Vin tell baseball stories all night. True voice of baseball. Gonna be sad to see him leave next year.

I am NOT intending to be selfish here... ...but when Vinnie passed, part of my childhood died with him. Listened to him since '60s. I guess that makes him part of my family, Love you Vin; RIP

I can fully understand. Born and raised in So Cal probably around the same time as yourself. Vinnie was like an old friend to us. Listening nightly on our transistor radios, volume down as much as I could, dad could still hear it and yelling from the living room "Go to sleep!"

vin is not only the greatest play by play baseball announcer that ever lived. It is impossible to even think of another to grace the microphone. I have heard them all and was in Brooklyn from the beginning in 1950 to L.A. in '58. God Bless you Vin. You are a true National Treasure. Dodgers will win for Vin in 2014.

Jesus Christ! Talk about the ultimate right answer! I have LOVED Vin Scully from the time I was a youth in the early to mid 1970s and began watching sports. That he still broadcasts and is one of the very last links to my childhood gives me joy, and at the same time deep heartache, as I believe 2014 is his final season announcing. Look up the definition of "class" in the dictionary, and you'll see Vin Scully's picture. God bless you Vin.

We here in L.A. are so grateful and fortunate to have the greatest baseball announcer Vin Scully announce Dodger games for what will be 65 years! But Yankee fans, you've got a pretty cool announcer in Michael Kay with his "See ya!" calls.

Legend. My dad is a hardcore, die-hard Dodger's fan and we would go to games all the time during the Piazza/Sheffield/Martinez Bros years, and most of those times, we would see Vin before games. I also remember listening to Vin ever since I was a child in the 90s, with my dad in the car, listening to LA games. Even though my team is the Oakland A's, I have great respect for the living legend Vin Scully and the LA Dodger's.

At Vin's age, his total recall and the ease with which he tells a tale are amazing. I'll have what he's having.

Gotta admit that as a dbacks fan, I hate the dodgers. But Vin truly is a legend, both in the worlds of commentating and baseball. I love him, there's no one else like him.

One of My Favorite Things when I lived in the Los Angeles Area was Listening to Dodger Games on the Radio.........I started listening to get Updates on how the Yankees were doing, but I was so mesmerized by Scully's Voice that pretty soon I was listening every night........I also enjoyed listening to Angel Broadcasts, but Scully had so many things to Share, he set a High Standard for all future Radio Broadcasters!

I remember watching a Giants-Dodgers game up in then-AT&T park, and they had these tweets from fans on the edge of the screen. One guy said instead of the one-year contracts he always signed, he should get a five-year deal and have done with it. A minute later, some guy answered him: "Dude! He's 86 years old! He doesn't even buy green bananas!"
