Ms. Andrews is such an impeccable speaker/presenter. Brings so much class and dignity, no fumbling, no confusion, just an aura of honest to goodness everything. M. Kidd spoke really well and portrayed the "vitality of movie musicals" through his incredible array of spectacular work through the decades.

Anyone could have easily fallen in that dress that Julie was wearing but she pulled it off with grace and elegance.

I noticed Lauren Bacall & Debbie Reynolds in the audience several times. 2 more legends who have passed. Debbie looked stunning too! Thank god we still have Julie, please can it stay that way :-)

Why was so much of the audience hesitant about standing up at first?! Please, he was a genius, who was more than deserving of the respect of a standing ovation at the Academy Awards.

Initially, it is appropriate and deserved that Michael Kidd received his honorary Oscar at the Awards ceremony, rather than being relegated to a smaller presentation months earlier, as is now the fashion of the Academy. Without the talents of Kidd as a choreographer, the memorable dances in Minnelli's The Band wagon performed by Astaire and Charisse would not have been presented; the musical numbers in Guys And Dolls with Brando and Sinatra wouldn't have materialized and Seven Brides For Seven Brothers would not have the iconic sequences. He also danced memorably with Gene Kelly in It's Always Fair Weather.

I remember this well :-) Julie looks really stunning here; she would have been 61. It was shortly before her botched throat surgery. :-|

Why did you exclude the clips of the films Kidd worked on? They showed the brilliance of his works!

3:22 1997. I guess Julie was in Victor / Victoria on Broadway.

Never got the logic of this award. Mr. Kidd worked on only a handful of movies. He should however have been nominated for a brilliant acting performance in one of the 1970's best films "SMILE"
