This guy was a great choice to fill for John Bonham while with Page and Plant. I saw him a few times with Thin Lizzy, he was a mean kick ass drummer, so much so they had to put some pespex around him to control the noise. In fact a couple of years ago, a few dates were cancelled coz John Sykes was going partially deaf due to Michael's hard rocking. RIP big guy, sadly missed and one of the best drummers to have ever graced a stage.

Nobody can ever replace Phil.....but the guys in the band dedicate every show every night to Phil.These songs are to good to be forgotten and i think Sykes and co do a fine job performing them....Sykes has never forgotten that Phil gave him his big break and has great respect for Phil Lynott.

@mikehowton707 .........Lee died on 24 November 2008 from an epileptic seizure. He was found dead in his flat and his funeral took place in his hometown of Darlington the following week. Former bandmates Toby Jepson and Jimmy Page were amongst the mourners in attendance (wiki)

He first was playing with Robert Plant that said he needed the best drummer Micheal Lee and his Bass Player was Robert Plants bass player who also married Robert Plants sister- he played full Fate of Nations tour and the concert you need is in Rio before Page and Plant got together with Plant’s bro in law, Micheal Lee is awesome doing Robert Plants Hurting Kind from Fate-tour - album 92 and I first then Page and Plant Rio 1995 and 1998

to those that criticize the late Michael Lee....He loved what he did-which was just beat the hell out of those drum kits! I thought his style and energy was too cool...It was a damn shame his life ended in such a manner so young....If the "critics" could do so much better, then show us your 'stuff'...! otherwise, ...HUSH!

Amazing performance. With the technology we have nowadays, this song sounds VERY violent. And the guitars are also awesome.

Thin Lizzy is my fav all time band. Wish Phil was still here but John did a great job continuing the music. Michael was a killer drummer but Downey’s playing was more suitable for the Lizzy sound. It was based more on the blues. Still awesome to see Michael near his kit to death

Thanks for uploading this video brox68. If anyone's talent deserves to be celebrated, it definitely should be Michaels'. The news is so sad...rock n' roll has lost one of its finest. RIP dude...

I'm not a drum expert, but I hear a real flat/dead bass drum sound coupled with a snare that sounds like it's tuned too high. The overall effect reminds me of the drummer from Dave Matthews Band trying to play hard rock.

We have a three piece version of this with a female vocalist if you're interested. Search "Deep Blue dJinn, Night Of The Wolf Moon" . Phil had such a great sound, only the good die young.

Colrick 1234, you don't have to play an instruement to be a music critic, but I am a playing shit, not a non-playing shit. I play the drums and sing and write. Check out the original drummer for TL, Brian Downey on this song and I think it's called "Looking For An Alibi." He plays with subtlety and finesse; he uses accents and different dynamics.

Has anyone addressed this question... WHO IS PLAYING BASS?? It's definitely not Marcos Mendoza! I saw this lineup in 2004 at Pop's in Sauget, IL (they opened for Jakyl, *rolls eyes*). I took a bunch of friends with me that night, some of whom were with me when I saw Thin Lizzy back in '79! Fantastic show that night and Michael Lee did a righteous job on the kit. :) But still am confused on who is playing the bass here. He's playing a Gibson Firebird no less! Anyone know who this guy is?

I agree. No offense, but the drum fills are very mechanical, no feel at all. He just substitutes double bass for real drumming.

And you do what for a living?
@ppsmalls115 жыл бұрын
I disagree. He seems interchangeble with about a million other drummers. Off the top of my head his drumming is indistinguishable from that of Mickey Dee, Randy Castillo, Eric Singer and so many other assembly line rock drummers.
