He and his wife actually came to a hotel I was a manager at in 2014, twice. Both visits, his wife was in hysterical laughter all the way through their dinner, lol.

The one joke, I didn’t think Jodi would laugh at I expected her to go no no no, but she’s getting the British sense of humour excellent

Reminded me of a joke. Foreign guy visiting London, picked up a call girl’s card from a phone booth. Got back to his hotel and decided to ring the number later that night. A very seductive lady answered the phone “ Hello, and how may I help you?” “ I’m looking for really dirty sex, bit of spanking, bondage. I’m happy to pay good money” “That’s good to know Sir but you have to dial 9 for an outside line”

I worked in a hotel for over 18 years, so a lot of this is so relatable. My favourite story that happened to me was when the hotel fire alarms went off at 6am in the morning. A guest phoned from his room to ask if it was a fire alarm or a wake up call! 😂

Thanks for more McIntyre guys. Thought a good festive one for you for Christmas would be his "everyone does this at Christmas" video

Hotels... gah! At one resort we got a wake-up call at 4am. The phone was distant from the bed so I leapt out, crashed over a suitcase (that we'd only opened the night before and left on the floor) barking my shin and answered the phone shouting, "What??" thinking there was an emergency or something. "This is your wake-up call for your flight" "We're not flying out, we only arrived last night!" "Oh, sorry." My leg started playing up and at our next destination, I could barely walk and had to get the doctor in. Some (very) strong antibiotics cleared me up but I barely got out of the room for 3 days.

wake up calls were very popular through the 70's and part of the 80's, even through the 70's you would schedule a wake up call on the house phone, if you had to be up earlier than usual,

A turn down service would also include closing the curtains and putting decorative cushions/ pillows away.

As a Field Engineer (no I didn't mend fields) I used to stay overnight in a few hotels around the country. As a company we had a deal with a particular hotel chain and an account so the basics were paid for, so most of the hotels were pretty much the same. Have to say the hotels in the North, and in Wales were always much friendlier than those around London, but I never got offered the "key" option. I would always take the wake up call though as it was free and I tend to ignore my phone alarm normally anyway. Plus at home I might wake up and be out of the door within 30 minutes. If I was staying overnight somewhere I always made sure I had a proper breakfast, the full Monty, and would take an hour and a half or longer before leaving for my work. The other thing about these chains, is that they buy EVERYTHING in bulk, hence everything looking the same wherever you are, and the reason for the tiny soaps, towels, shampoos, etc. AND they know people will nick them. Yes I have had tiny toothpaste tubes and small sachets of shampoo at home, I even have two sewing kits. I never managed to get up the courage to take a bath robe, and then around the ninetys, they started charging you if you wanted a Robe in the room because they were losing so many. Taking bottles, Tea bags, biscuits, sewing kits etc when you leave, is morally a bit of a grey area. Are you stealing? Technically maybe, but then again, you have paid for those things as part of the price for the room ? ???

Semaphore: A system of signaling with flags. Anamaphore: Knocking in nails. Write the first word on a blackboard with the explanation, write the second underneath without the explanation, wait for someone to put their hand up and ask what’s Anamaphore?

In the Seychelles there is a hotel, or actually cabin beach rooms, where while you are away at breakfast they remake your bed and iron fancy creases, leave fresh fruit and you never see who does it, it is as if by magic. No matter what time you go, or return, from breakfast it is all immaculately completed on your return.
