So funny. Ive been running track competitively since 9 years old. Full scholarship to an SEC school. Best times were 10.23 100m/20.64 200m/46.1 400m I am now 49 years old. I still compete, but only in the 100m because I love the sport. I run consistently between 11.1 and 11.3, but i busted a 10.96 ONCE last year. With work, wife, and two kids, obviously I can't train like I should. Mainly speed work up to 150. Endurance days ill run the 200 8 times, and throw in at least 1 400m. I have to tell yall. Running just one 400 now, its hard to imagine how these dudes run it like that at such an early age. I wasnt a quarter guy, but in my day, college dudes were running mid to high 44, with an exception every few years someone running in the 43's. Its crazy now days the training and knowledge these athletes have now days. My son is a sophomore. He followed the steps. As a sophomore I ran 10.7 (I was only 14 in 10th grade). As a senior, I won states at 10.43 and came in 7th at Golden west invitational with a 10.46. My son, as a sophomore, is running 10.6. Its just crazy these high school and college kids just keep progressing and progressing. Our sport is in good hands with these new dudes like Norman, Lyles, and Bolling. Seems like track is being taken seriously and with pride again in the U.S. Keep it up!!!

Great comment 👍👍 Awesome to hear your love for Track is still strong my friend. I too am 49 yrs old and also ran track in my younger years. My events were the 100m and Long jump , and as a Canadian in the 11th grade my 10.67 was good enough for a Provincial Silver Medal. Ontario. But my best event was Long jump were I broke a 26-year-old HS Junior record with a 7.43m jump. Unfortunately I've been forced to give the sport up in terms of competing but do love watching anything Track related. I do play in a mens softball league...lol, so I at least have that.😏 Im with you when you say it's crazy how the kids nowadays are putting down insane times. That's the way it is I suppose, we are always evolving and improving. Thanks for sharing some of your personal experiences with this great sport. Cheers mate... 🍻

Im only 5 7" in high school and prime years, I could stand under the goal, no steps and dunk a basketball tow hands. I high jump 6'6". BUT, when it came to the long jump BWAHAHAHAHAHA I could barely get to 22 feet. I never understood it. I envy you!!!! 26 is straight beast!!

@@Keepdapocket That's too funny, because I am only 5 8" , on a tall day 😏, and I could not High Jump to save my life. But for you to be able to dunk at this height is crazy. Why do male athletes now feel the need to shave their armpits? I can see why swimmers would do it, to cut down drag, but that's not the case obviously with other athletes. Manly men don't shave their body hair! Trimming is ok, though. But having a smooth armpit or pubic area is just weirdly effeminate, in my book!
