I think japanese swimmers like seyto, hagino or irie are really impressive...They can overcome a lack of height that is so important in swimming, and be up there fighting with the best of them...Much respect for these guys!

Breaststoke is such a unique stroke. It's interesting to see so many world class freestylers and butterflyers struggle when it comes to breast. I've heard it said that swimmers are made but breaststokers are born. So true.

There's a Short course World Cup as well as Long Course. There's world championships which would've been later in the year in Long Course (50m Pool).

Japanese athlete Daiya Seto is way better to my opinion. He was just beaten on the final front stroke... He is like 20 cm shorter than Phelps -less advantageous- and his stamina and endurance is superb!

Phelps would have been 'trying' during the whole thing! just his stoke technique was so smooth and precise that it looked otherwise.

I think that you think you know what you are talking about. Trust me. Phelps really isn't trying that hard on back or breast. And also, a fast tempo is vital for having a world class backstroke, and many very fast breastrokers use a very short and quick pull.

It's dolphin and plus the butterfly was at the begginning he was doing free style last so you're still wrong either way.
