Michael Ryan was a quiet loner when he was a kid, so he began pretending to be a military trained survivalist as an adult. When that didn’t bring him the respect he was looking for, he grabbed his guns and set out to kill as many people as he could.

There was a guy on KZfaq who told the story of his suicide attempt. He had cut one of his wrists and then he remembered he had to feed his dog and make sure he was fine. That was enough time for clarity or help to come along. That's what amazing about dogs (pets in general acrially)actually. We love them more than we live ourselves. Perhaps if we don't think our lives are worth it, we should consider what these little guys would go through without you. Maybe that would be enough to at least try... for them.

Sorry to say but souls don't exist/are part of human mythos. That said, there's no doubt that sapience is determined by the brain, and the brain is the most complex organ our body develops prenatally - there's a lot that can go wrong (just like the body). Some people are born with the prerequisite defects to develop anti-social personality disorder (psychopathy), some people are bonked on the head real good and that does it. The good news is that since it has nothing to do with a mythical eternal spirit that possesses our body, and instead is a defect of the brain, potentially it's treatable - perhaps future victims can be prevented one day. C'mon science, let's goooooo~!

That man and his dog had a fantastic bond. Dogs are highly empathetic creatures. Their owners passing can be traumatizing. It can take years for a dog to function to a normal level afterwards. Hopefully that smoothed some of the dog's trauma, knowing that his owner was going to be okay, one way or another.

You go into the names and relationships of many of the victims, which Britain's Most Evil Killers didn't, except for a few. Great video, as always. This case in 1987, the Columbine School Shooting (1999), the Bath School Massacre (1926), and the recent Robb Elementary Shooting (2022) will forever stand out to me as some of the most horrific mass murders in the US. Notice how 3 of the 4 occurred at schools. How disgusting and evil, to kill innocent children!

In 1987 there were only 57 million people in the UK, with far less guns than people. There are over 400 million firearms accounted for in the U.S. That's not counting the illegal gun manufacturing and distribution coming into the U.S., as well as homemade guns, and Ghost Guns. Some people have estimated there to be enough guns in the U.S. for every man, woman, and child on Earth to have TWO, and some people would have three. These numbers have an impact on the effectiveness of gun control in the United States, and it's in very bad taste to be trivializing a hot button issue for views.

It reminded me that a guy I once knew was a soldier at the camp some 10-15 miles down the road and was on sentry duty that day. He said they heard the shooting and recognised it as an AK. Thinking it could be Irish terrorists (this was at the end of the Troubles) the corporal dished out ammunition and had the guard turn out and load into landrovers but their officer stopped them going to investigate as it was a 'civilian matter' off base and the Army couldn't intervene. Had they done so Ryan would have come face to face with real soldiers who'd have been there much quicker than the armed police... a what if spoiled by red tape. I don't know if that ever got out at whatever inquest/enquiry was held afterwards. Who knows if it could have saved some lives?

They don't have a decimated mental healthcare system like the United States. People have somewhere to go if they have a problem as opposed to in the States where healthcare can run into tens of thousands of dollars. People are less apt to snap and do something terrible. It's a cultural difference. Crime in the US and UK may well as be apples and oranges. If the US had a more comprehensive healthcare system (mental health in this case) there would be a lot less tragedy.

After that video of yours I did continue to watch your work but I've never clicked the like button again. And now... after your obvious extreme left liberal political views I've found myself questioning whether or not I'll be clicking on another one of your videos. 🤔 Extremism in any direction... left, right, up or down is not healthy for anyone and quite often becomes dangerous for those wrapped up in it. Personally, I've fought for our country as a military member for the last 21 years and completely respect your right to freedom of speech. Having dedicated almost half of my life to fighting for the freedoms that make the USA so great, it saddens me to see how divided our country really is. I truly belive that we'd all be better off if we could meet somewhere in the middle on the big issues and stop sweating the small stuff. AKA/ live and let live. @1903 Springfield I don't have any personal experience with Mormons? Weird, I didn't know that about myself. Please, tell me more about myself stranger. You clearly know more about me than I do. Wanting less people to die is not a right or left position. It's a human position. Someone who serves our country should be able to understand that. I do absolutely agree with you that we should be able to meet in the middle and pro-gun people being absolutely unwilling to even talk about gun regulations kinda flies in the face of that. I've never promoted banning all guns. I shoot guns all the time. I'm actually a pretty decent shot. So I am more than willing to meet in the middle. Far too many people are dying in our country and our children fear for their lives at school. That needs to change. If wanting that change makes me a "left", that I'm really sad for whoever isn't a "left", because we should all want that. And please, stop making assumptions about me. I've been a huge fan since 10k subs and greatly appreciate what you do. But using these sensitive subjects as a political soapbox is starting to rub me the wrong way. So, since you're confident enough in these positions (gun ownership restrictions reduce homicides) to proselytize them to your audience, i invite you to debate me, right here, right now, about this subject for everyone to see. I'm certain that your position on this subject is verifiably false and I'm willing to publicly debate this. You chose to place this in your video. Deleting any comment that challenges your position that you willingly expressed, does nothing but show the weakness of your position. I like you, Jiles. I genuinely do, and I think you're a good dude. But I'm calling you out on this because you're verifiably wrong. If you can't defend it, then you shouldn't be presenting it to your audience.

You're shifting the goalposts. Your point in this video, the point that I'm directing my ire towards, is that legally impeding people's ability to own firearms results in less homicides. This is verifiably false. The homicide rate in the UK actually continued to increased for 10 years after the legislation you cited. The homicide rate in Australia was in decline when they imposed similar laws, and the rate of decline did not change. They cite those numbers after the legislation without that very important context. Chicago, who has some of the strictest gun laws in the US, has one of the highest gun violence/homicide rates in the US. This is also true of many cities, like New York, LA, etc. Meanwhile Plano, Texas, which has the highest per-capita gun ownership rate in the world, also has one of the lowest crime rates in the world. If it were true that the availability and ownership rates of firearms had any correlation to gun homicides, it would necessarily have to be the case that Plano would have the highest gun homicide rate on earth. But it doesn't. It's the opposite. In places with lenient gun laws and high gun crime, we have very detailed studies showing exactly where these crimes happen, along with detailed demographic and geographic data that shows significant correlations to certain variables. None of which reflect gun ownership rates. The Guardian has an excellent interactive map in their article on this data. You can clearly see this is related to very specific circumstances. Otherwise cities like St Louis would have homogeneous gun crime rates. Almost all of the top 10 countries in gun death rate per capita have strict anti-gun regulations. And most of the countries with lenient gun regulations, like Switzerland, Sweden, Finland, etc have low crime rates. Out of the 45,000 gun death in the US, 60% of those are suicides, which is conveniently left out by anti gun people trying to use those numbers to scare people. I would cite all of this if KZfaq would allow me to, but you can easily verify all of this yourself. Anything you find to the contrary will be citing the notoriously horrible Kellerman study which has been debunked, even by the most anti-gun publications like NYT, CNN, Huffington Post, etc. It was so bad, that it got gun research funding pulled from the CDC. So keep that in mind if/when you decide to cite something to the contrary. I haven't even mentioned defensive gun use statistics, which further illustrates the flaws in anti gun sentiments. But that's beside the point currently.

@@thisisMONSTERS This is an important conversation to have, but you have to admit that it's not very good to start it by just unilaterally representing people you perceive as opponents as total morons in your content. It's dishonest and poorly informed, and I know you're better than that. We can start by doing a better job of screening children for abuse, neglect, and undiagnosed mental disorders and finding ways to help them. We can also work on reforming prisons so that they actually rehabilitate people instead of locking them in cycles of violence which frequently contribute to the gun-related crimes you claim to care so deeply about.

Oh, and by the way, the US is markedly NOT #1 in gun deaths. We're not even in the top 10. Using raw numbers in a country of 300 million as if every other country has the same population is a slimy and disingenuous tactic. You have to look at per capita statistics or your entire premise is severely flawed. And those statistics put us at around #10. If you remove gun suicide and only look at gun homicide, we immediately go down close to #30.

@Funny Clips Mass murders are now an extreme rarity in the UK and Europe. That's due to very strong gun laws. Those who are licensed to have guns, usually only for hunting, have to undergo deep background checks. Their guns must be kept locked in heavy duty safes, which are bolted into concrete ground. Police can turn up at any time, such as 3.15am or 5pm and ask to see the safe and guns. If they are not securely locked in the safe, the owner can lose their licence and the guns are seized immediately. I could never live in the US. Gun crime there is totally out of control. I live near Hungerford and also, at that time, had just quit working at one of the rare gunshops in the UK, Windsor Guns and Fieldsports, where i had worked for a couple of years. My best friend was/is a local gunsmith and makes stocks for amongst others the Purdy shotgun company. I was absolutely up to speed with the shooting community and gun laws in our country. After Ryan commited the unspeakable act Windsor Guns eventually closed as trying to get a shotgun license (for a good time) was almost as difficult as getting a firearms certificate. Pre Hungerford a farmer (for instance) could buy 10,000 shotgun cartridges if he wished, after the laws changed there was a cap. Firearms certificates were already difficult enough to be granted as police checks were stringent, pistols (certainly in my end of Berkshire) had to be stored at a gun club and were very, very rarely allowed to be taken home. Home had to have certified gun cabinets bolted to floor and walls and hidden. The limit of live rounds depended on the owners job, as in did he use his rifle to keep vermin down or was he a weekend user. After Hungerford this was even tightened, your mental history was checked thoroughly as was your familial mental history. Regular amnesties harvested thousands of firearms, swords, knives etc. Yes the gunshops slowly disappeared. But absolutely for the better.

Lmao maybe people shouldn't use firearms to kill innocent people. Countries like Australia banned them after a mass shooting and haven't had a single one since. Almost like banning them worked for them, and trust me I understand America is vastly different than Australia when it comes to gun culture. It's basically engrained in every piece of American History. Edit: I was wrong and will admit so, Australia has had 3 mass shootings since Port Arthur. In the US, we've had 3 this week.

@@leo8049 I agree I wish people didn’t commit such heinous crimes. Unfortunately they do. I believe it has to do with the lack of mental health care in our country. As well as the massive differences of opportunity between certain demographics. Which drive people to commit such acts.

@@deezydom3313 he jumped right on the “gun nut” comment. Damn. No one said “anti freedom nut”. The emotional thinking that has been hammered into society today is the cause of so many problems. Those who think emotionally and make decisions that way always make the wrong one. You are 110% right in your post. The shrieking starts so quick that an intelligent conversation is impossible. He used the world comparison talking about pro gun people. The only ones I’m concerned with are in the US. I wonder if the folks who are freedom haters realize how many people they pass everyday, normal, sane, rational people that are carrying when they pass and nothing happens. Nothing at all. No violence breaks out. Everything is peaceful and quiet. Amazing how the weapon gets the focus and not the maniac using it. We average 90-100 deaths a day in vehicles and everyone is just fine and dandy with that number and no talk of restrictions, bans, etc. Zero effort to improve and reduce the number. No phrases like “car crime” are used when talking about DUI numbers.

If constructive criticism is welcome and we believe you do welcome it; What we are wearing thin on are the personal opinions. Some are very witty while others smack of personal bias. Seems a shame to take away from the facts and alienate viewers. Granted, we might be the only two with this opinion - lol.
