I love Schenker but, no

I’ve always been a huge EVH fan but the longer I play guitar and reflect, I might have to agree. I think they are both technically excellent and EVH is probably better than Schenker here. More and more I think of EVH as stunning but a lot of that is tone/effects. Schenker’s playing seem more musical and integrated with the songs overall. At any rate, Schenker is probably my favorite living rock guitarist.

I think Schenker and EVH are both from the school of what I’d call great players and that list is not that big. A great guitar player not only has great technical skill but also great creative skill and originality, they have a kind of genius level of creativity and style that separates them from all the rest. Schenker’s best output would be up to the end of UFO and the beginning of MSG, EVH obviously up to 1984. After that I think the genius streak ended.

I think he more well known with guitarist than the general population. But he seems to be out there touring and recording more and more.

I knew Michael was with UFO but I didn't know where to start. Thank you! I'd 1st heard of him when my friend's big brother came home from Germany while in The Army. He had every Scorpions album with Lovedrive [original umm... bubble gum album cover] as the latest release. We were the 1st people in our town to be listening to them before they broke big in the states. Loved his work with MSG!

Yeah I’ve done more of a deep dive on some of the players as I’ve done the videos.

Dude is one of the best to ever do it. I would make the argument that the playing on Strangers in the Night is just as good if not better than VH1.

Lovedrive info is false as credits are BS. Schenker played on more tracks than the three stated. It’s obvious he plays solos on ‘loving you Sunday morning as well as holiday intro, which he WROTE! He is likely on every song in some way as he was repeatedly asked by Deiter Deirks to embellish or add something to every song. Blatant lack of full credit by the scorpions is disturbing. They left him off completely in the lovedrive rebox set.

Yes he has said that he played on most of the tracks.

The birth of MSG was probably 1980 (not 1979) .....The First MSG album produced by Roger Glover was recorded & mixed May - July 1980) But there was no MSG 'band' touring then. It was Michael, the Singer & session players Mo Foster & Simon Phillips

Obsession was recorded in early 1978 I think ?...Not 1977. .....& it was released in the UK in 1978 too....Not 1979........Strangers in the Night was released in 1979 (though recorded months earlier in Oct 1978)

Recorded in 1977 per Michaels website. I use US release dates due to me being in the US. Sorry for any confusion.
@@greatguitaristoftherockera2833 Sometimes in interviews i think possibly even Michael gets some of his OWN dates wrong actually....lol...He once said the Lights Out album was done in 1976 but on the original vinyl sleeve in front of me here it says Feb-March 1977...lol

Yeah I think he was drinking pretty heavily back then.
@walterevans21188 ай бұрын
@@greatguitaristoftherockera2833 Yes he was,,, poor Michael.....At the time he had stage fright, he hardly spoke English ,,,As a result he felt isolated in the band & touring was a reason to drink to calm his nerves. I have recordings of the NY Record Plant sessions in 1975 where in the silence between tracks the mic picks up Phil Mogg going - 'HIMMLER' ! ..& you can hear the other band members all laughing. Years later in an interview Michael said - 'My then girlfriend was my translator. & she translated Drummer Andy Parker saying - 'You're so lucky you don't understand what they're saying' .
