Somehow this guy was left off of Rolling Stone Magazine's Top 100 Rock Guitar Player's list. Tom Petty, Prince and Bruce Springsteen made it, though. Fuck Rolling Stone Magazine Schenker is a true Guitar God.

Funny thing is that I have watched these play along solo vids- and then I see Yngwie having actual concerts with this set up- playing along with pre recorded tracks with smoke machines and lights.

Go and check best guitarists lessons about MSG and don't worry you re not alone if i can say so , they know how playing the scales but do they have his touch ? What makes a "great guitarist" is the "touch on the neck" .So simple to explain so hard to do it : . its a gift plus a lots of hard work . Cause you can be gifted but if you dont have the passion of and the faith in what you do you ll never get it .

I would love to see what Mr Shenker and KK Downing would put out if they ever in this lifetime met. Seeing my two most inspirations together would be a dream come true.

I saw that 78' tour also, (when UFO brought AC/DC out with them). I saw it in Milwaukee, Wisconsin though. And they had another small midwest band named Bad Boy that opened the show. I snuck up the very front row, with 4 friends, and we sat there all night. One of my best concert memories from the late 70's. Us friends, to this day, still can't believe nobody came for their seats that evening. Michael, and Pete Way, blew us totally away.

Amazing how he is able to get that tone and vibrato type sound from his bends with a mostly 3 fingured technique. SpursFan

Great vid, Mr. Axe, you´re always giving us these pearls! I´m amazed how Michael grabs his guitar neck in a non conventional way, but yet he is so precise when he hit the notes, and his vibrato is sooo balsy. I have a small hand and small fingers, so it´s kinda hard to play his songs and Gary Moore´s.

I really think at the end of the day,Mike owns them all,even Ulrich Roth,dare I say.Maybe Ritchie Blackmore might have been able to keep up back in his hey day. Back in 1985 ,as I was on my way to see Deep Purple I was reading an interview with Ritchie who was commenting how much he admired Schenker....and Jeff Beck. And that night at the show...Blackmore was god :-)
@Quazzga5 жыл бұрын
Agreed! Blackmore used to be my favorite guitarist, but having now watched a whole bunch of Schenker videos, I can honestly say that that Michael Schenker blows away Ritchie Blackmore, Jimmy Page, Eddie Van Halen, Randy Rhoads, Uli Roth, Tony Iommi, Yngwie Malmsteen, Jimi Hendrix, Jeff Beck, Stevie Ray Vaughn, etc., etc. Schenker is the best, by far, and he does it mainly using only three fingers of his fret hand instead of four - a very unusual playing technique. You can tell he was self-taught, and developed this mainly three-finger technique on his own. The way he smoothly glides from melodic soloing to power chording is something few other guitarists can do. Yngwie, for example, can solo and do hammer-ons at light speed, but that's about all he can do, and it gets tedious after a short time. Schenker, though, knows how to rock! Michael Schenker was the one who suggested Uli Roth as his replacement in the Scorpions when he left to join UFO. And, a young Eddie Van Halen decided not to audition for UFO when Schenker left that band, because he (Van Halen) felt he wasn't good enough, and couldn't fill Schenker's shoes. That says a whole lot. Also, after Randy Rhoads' tragic death, the first call Ozzy made for a replacement guitarist was to Michael Schenker, because he had been Randy Rhoads' main influence. The Rolling Stones and Aerosmith also wanted him, but he declined them all to follow his own musical vision. He deserves way more recognition than he has received.
