From "The Office": an American television mockumentary sitcom broadcast on NBC. Yeah in the Phyllis wedding episode he says that his parents were divorced. My theory has always been that he's trying to create his own surrogate family using his employees, and the reason he hates Toby so much is that he reminds him of his father (Toby is also divorced).

Michael isn't stupid, he's petty. He immediately changed his approach for Toby's exit interview as soon the others entered the room. If this was true to life I believe Stanley would have actually told him how stupid he was much sooner.

not sure if it's correct to call it genuine just because it wasn't scripted. they're still professional actors at work and it's natural for them to act and react to what's happening according to their characters, no matter if it's something scripted or not.

Problematic describes the majority of Michael’s interactions. I love the antagonism between Michael and Pam in ‘The Lover’, the first time we saw that. I’m going to date her even harder. Pam -‘what does that mean?’, Michael-‘you know what that means’😂

That's kind of the entire point of Michael, he's ignorant to the point of incorrigibility, and he's so offensive because he's such a dumbass, but in the end, he's got good enough of a heart that you can't help but love him despite that ignorance because it's legitimately not his fault that he doesn't have the emotional tools to understand that how he acts isn't right.

With "Blind Guy McSqueezy", I can't tell if the dark glasses actually impeded Michael's vision and they really did get Jim and Pam mixed up, or if they were doing a genuinely clever bit of comedy by making it look like they were going for the boob grope, but then doing it to Jim instead.

Why was he wearing a present on his belt? I don’t get the whole “joke” he made about firing Pam. Was she supposed to have stolen something for Michael, but didn’t do it, or DID she? Also, he pretends that he hates doing it, but says “the BEST (not the WORST, the BEST) thing about it is that we’re not going to give you any severance pay.” Wtf?
