Michael Vick's iconic, highlight-reel moment in Minnesota deserves a deep rewind

As a defender, one of the first things you learn is to tackle the person with the ball. In a 2002 Week 13 matchup against the Atlanta Falcons, two Minnesota Vikings defenders forgot that skill and ended up hitting each other. It wasn't because of a lack of effort, the two Vikings defenders just found themselves up against one of the most explosive quarterbacks in NFL history, Michael Vick.
To better appreciate Vick's iconic, defense-splitting moment, we need to understand how the Atlanta Falcons sunk so low to land his talents. How the Minnesota Vikings went from an NFC powerhouse just a few years ago, to just barely getting by. And how these two teams have a bit of history with each other in overtime moments. To do all that, we gotta rewind.

Once Deshaun Watson gets traded you have to do a collapse of Houston sports. Like, the Astros get caught cheating and blow it up, the Rockets lose James Harden and blow it up, and the Texans lose their star quarterback who’s probably the best in franchise history. Failure on this magnitude in so many sports is absolutely crazy.

Houston’s collapse isn’t really as tragic though when you consider that the only time they choked when Damn near the entire country was pulling for them, was a Rockets playoff game against Golden State, meanwhile with the state of Georgia literally every non Bama fan was rooting for the Bulldogs and every non-evil empire fan was rooting for the Falcons and they both absolutely fell apart at the scene

@@ronstoppable5659 Still, to blow up every single major sports team in a city at the same time is something that has almost never been done before. The Rockets choked in 2018 and fell apart two years later. The Astros actually won, but after it was found out they cheated no one took that championship seriously and the Astros turned into the villains of the league. Soon they blew it up as well. The Texans choked a 24-0 lead to the Chiefs and then preceded to trade away their best assets leading to their star quarterback demanding a trade. That’s pretty impressive to do within a span of 2 and a half years.

Obviously we know what Andy Reid did for him, but I wonder what someone like Dennis Green could've done for him especially when he was younger. People remember him as the "They are who we thought they were" guy, but that man could coach. While I do like a majority of these videos, I am dumbfounded at this one. Michael Vick has a plethora of amazing plays which showcase his skill and ability as both a runner and a passer and instead of clips of those moments we get a clipshow of uninspired newspaper clippings, sped up footage of Vick (diminishing the ability of compare his speed to real time events which would have further supported the idea of his skill). Why were there so many still images? I also feel "this moment in history" was weak. The other video's have a sense of impact and importance in the meaning of the game and the play, this was just kind of all over the place.

Vick was never more highly regarded as a phenom than after this game-winning run, but the Falcons' most impressive accomplishment that season was going to Lambeau in the playoffs and knocking off the Favre-Sherman Packers, with temperatures below freezing. Previously, nobody thought that was possible, as all of Favre's playoff losses had come on the road.

We NEED a Rewinder on Michael Phelps' miraculous 2008 Beijing 100 Fly win. A momentous moment which would quickly overshadow everything that came before, and begin a career that would quickly expand to a scope that would dwarf every instant in his storied career. In that moment, it seemed as though Michael Phelps had ascended from a US swimming phenom to an olympic demigod. If that isn't the perfect setup for a deep rewind, then I don't know what is.

@@mecube9148 Whoops, messed that up, it was the semi-finals. 96 Semi-Final, Detroit-St. Louis. The Blues were run by Keenan and filled with Hall of Famers (Gretzky, Hull, McInnis, Hawerchuk, Pronger, Anderson, Fuhr). They ran into a similarly loaded Detroit team (Yzerman, Federov, Coffey, Larianov, Lidstrom, Fetisov) and got stonewalled, capped off by Yzerman stealing the puck from Gretzky and putting a slapshot bar-down from the top of the circle to win it in overtime.
