I'm listening in April 2024 and this song, Cry for Love, is as fresh and welcoming as it was when first released in 1995. My favorite part of the video is near the end, as young people sing, sway, and get caught up in the spirit. We all continue to be swept away in the Holy Spirit today, as Michael continues to faithfully lead the world in praise for God. We are truly blessed. ❤

I’ve listened to this song since I was a child - my favorite part of the music video was when Michael took off the cloche and all the papers went flying - something about that was amazing as a child. Today 8/8/2023, this song was running through my head, and it hit me. God is so incredibly faithful and He is listening, “Oh, I know that You can hear me - hear me crying out for love, Oh I know that You can feel my cry for love”. Praise the Lord!

askim925 me too. I listened to him in the 90's as a teen. My life took poorly chosen paths till finally I hit bottom pretty hard. I was rescued there in my most hopeless hour. My life is completely changed. I am married, raising my daughter I'd two years. I'm looking for new music all the time, I want to surround her in positivity and knowledge and comfort of her Father God. I had forgotten about Micheal W Smith. It's been such a blessing to go back to early seeds planted in old songs, as well as checking out the huge catalog of music that came out in my absence. I hope and pray that you're on your way to a better place as you read this, and not on your way to rock bottom.

I can see how someone could confuse this for suicide i.e. On the ledge of a building, wearing a black trench coat, but I personally don't think it's about suicide. The building he's on seems like the tallest building in that city, and that's why he's crying out from there. He's also seemingly leading a choir from the tallest building as if he wants to be as close to God as possible. He's an artist, and artists sometimes can be misunderstood. As far as the lady in white, in Bible terminology this usually represents the bride of Christ which is his Church; all deep symbolism. I love this song and this video.

Indeed. It would also seem incongruous that someone contemplating suicide would be singing, "I can feel You, You're touching me, You're healing me, my cry for love."

Good explanation and all true!! As Christians we can come to the end of ourselves when going through a trying time. Like Paul, who asked God "to remove his thorn in the flesh" we cry out to God. Not every Christian goes through an easy life. You might remember MWS suffered from Depression many years ago. We are Over-comers and the Bible talks about that too. It really is OK to cry out to God, David, Abraham, Paul. etc.
