I want to love Sezane too, but they are NOT as great as they seem! First of all, so overpriced. I bought expensive boots from them one time and the quality was not up to par with the price. Also I hate how they photograph their clothes. Every image on the site is so editorialized, the models are all in these weird poses and I can't actually see how the clothes look, so when they arrive, they don't at all look on me like they look on their models. Lastly -- be sure to check the composition of their clothes! They use a lot of disappointing, nasty feeling polyester.

Loved hearing what's on your wishlist!! I'm a knitter, and I would guess that the polyamide is added to Sezane's sweaters for stability. Alpaca is a very soft and drapey fiber, and will pill and lose its shape over time if knit up on its own. Generally, the softer the fiber, the more it will pill. Conversely, the itchier the wool, the stronger and more lasting the garment. Adding a little wool and a little polyamide to an alpaca sweater would provide elasticity and structure while still getting that soft, fuzzy alpaca look and feel. I'd be so curious to see a Sezane sweater in real life, but honestly I'm content to blow all my money on yarn instead lol

Jennifer Wang’s KZfaq channel is filled to the brim with information on how to tell good quality versus bad quality clothing. She’s very knowledgeable, down to earth and very chic. Quality is expensive. Then you add trendy to the mix. Resulting in scarcity/sold out. I ❤ vintage shopping and sewing my own clothes. Plus, shopping my closet is SO fun!

A scrunchie is something you can easily sew yourself. It can be your project. Then you'll have one that's inspired by the Free People one, but uniquely yours. You could probably even hand sew it--don't even need a machine.

So glad you checked the composition -- Sezane sweaters are the worst!! I bought the Gaspard and it feels like I am wearing plastic, it looks horrible and baggy and frumpy, and it was so overpriced. Avoid their acrylic crap, their 100% wool pants and leather handbags are fabulous though!

Another great video Michaela! You are quickly becoming one of my fave fashion KZfaqrs! Okay life long handknitter and former professional knit designer here! Got things to say about fiber content. First off polyamide is nylon, two names for the same thing. Of the synthetic fibers to add to a wool blend for a sweater polyamide/nylon is VASTLY preferable to acrylic, but percentage matters (and actually so does garment quality/knit construction which unfortunately isn’t something you can gauge by website descriptions). 30% is a bit higher than I would ideally like to see, 15-25% is what I usually look for. Nylon unlike acrylic can actually add strength to a yarn, acrylic almost always is just used to add bulk & reduce cost. 15/20% is enough to add strength without replacing too much of the natural fibers. In a perfect world I would buy only 100% natural fiber sweaters but you virtually cannot buy them anymore. Even Nikki Chasin sweaters have 23% polyamide at a price point of $300-400! Cordera charge 500 euro for a sweater that may or may not be 100% natural fibers varies from product to product and you have to check the fiber composition. All this said, I would listen to all the comments saying Sezane sweaters are overpriced and not good quality, you can get a nice sweater with some polyamide in it, but sounds like theirs don’t hold up!

Regarding the polyamide (and men made fibres in general) they are often used to stabilise shorter natural fibres BUT mixed fibre items are no longer biodegradable so I personally prefer to stay away from them apart from work out and outdoor (hiking, snow, etc.) wear. Wools itchiness is (kinda) dependent on the quality but you can also try merino wool which tends to be softer. All in all I would suggest to stay under 10% plastic fibres in something like sweaters, trousers and dresses. 5% and under for anything that is washed often like tank tops. Don’t use fabric softener and don’t tumble dry those items. Wool and silks should be washed as little as possible and I would suggest using a clothing net and the delicate setting (or hand washing). In coats I would say I can tolerate up to 20% artificial fibres (in second hand purchases)but it makes absolutely no sense because those will not keep you warm and are only there to keep lower quality wool in shape. 💜

this should be pinned! I wish people knew more about when synthetics are needed for the integrity of the garment. Sure, silk could be used to stabilise, but nobody is going to sell alpaca-silk fashion sweater for sezane pricing.

I have the Sezane Paula Babies in caramel and they are hands down one of my favourite pairs of shoes. I wear them loads for occasions such as worship and eating out etc but not to walk around in. I’d say you will trash them if you are planning to walk around all day in them. But I find them very comfortable to wear and they are not that high. I also have the gaspard cardigan and it is one of the most versatile and comfy cardys I have. It can be itchy for some people but I wear it with a silky cami underneath if I’m wearing it as a jumper and I don’t find it too itchy. The fabric composition is as it is simply because of the alpaca and mohair content - the polyamide stabilises the garment. You can wear it as a jumper or a cardigan and I also style it as a bolero type cardigan by wearing it open then tying the bottom and using the buttons to secure. I bought mine secondhand and have had it for about two years and it looks as good as new. The secret is to handwashing them (only needed a couple of times a year if you steam and air in between washes), rolling them up in a towel to squeeze out excess water and dry laid flat. It doesn’t pill too much but I keep on top of it by using an electric depiler every couple of months or so. The gaspard is oversized so size down one size depending on the fit you want. For me the best Sezane composition is their merino cotton blends and their silk is excellent. If you look after then well then they will look great for a long time.

I Wear a lot of wool / mohair / polystuff blends and also 100 pro kashmere/wool and imo... you just never know. I have great wool sweaters from hm premium with ~30 procent plastic and they keep up amazing. I have massimo dutti 100 pro wool that started bubbling after 5 wears. I guess it depends on the quality of the yarn and the way the garment is made. I just try to go >60 procent natural fibers cause I want clothes to breathe, but the pilling is always a roulette

Many fashion influencers will go into town with a suitcase of clothes and shoes to do a photo shoot, sometimes with several outfits and a professional photographer, then go back home in their sneakers. It’s daft and misleading to promote impractical clothes to other women. I actually like 60% cotton, 40% acrylic as a composition. The acrylic makes it warmer and lighter without being itchy. Cotton keeps it breathable. But I only buy it secondhand for the environmental factor. Unless you have super hardy skin, I recommend avoiding angora, mohair and alpaca. The first two fluff off and get everywhere, including in your eyes and nose. All three are itchy. Alpaca like virgin wool is quite scratchy as well and washes as terribly as 100% acrylic. It will look like a Primark item after a couple of washes. All these sound like bougie quality, but are terrible unless you can bear all of the above. I recommend cotton, cashmere and merino wool (except from Banana Republic and Aritzia who apparently don’t pretreat their wool so it shrinks terribly).

In my experience the quality of Sezanes clothes is good and prices are justified (a little bit of artificial fibers in knitwear doesn't mean they pill super easily, can be the opposite) except for the shoes. They're just weirdly overpriced. So jealous you have shops in NY though! Edit: I have 100 % cashmere sweaters that also, unfortunately, pill in some places. It can't always be avoided. I have a special fabric shaver for that now :)
