Michael Jackson's short film for "You Rock My World" was one of two short films produced for recordings from Invincible, Michael's sixth album as an adult solo performer. As a single, "You Rock My World" was a No. 1 hit in France, Spain Portugal, Poland and Romania, and reached the Top 10 in another 16 countries, including Canada, the United Kingdom, Ireland, Italy and Australia. In the United States, the single reached the Top 10 of Billboard's Hot 100 (his 28th career Top 10 single in America), Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Singles, Mainstream Top 40 and Rhythmic Top 40-marking Michael's fourth consecutive decade with a Top 10 hit since the 1970s.
The ambitious, 13-minute "You Rock My World" short film features guest appearances from Chris Tucker, Michael Madsen and Marlon Brando (in one of his final film appearances). Michael and Chris follow a beautiful girl (Kiyasha Dudley) into a club, where Michael attempts to woo her from a potential suitor (Madsen). Michael's seduction causes a fight between an enforcer (Billy Drago) and himself, which results in a fire breaking out in the club. Michael briefly encounters the club's boss (Brando) before escaping with Chris and the girl.
The "You Rock My World" short film won an NAACP Image Award for Outstanding Music Video in 2002.

Even though MJ is technically black, it still feels like the white and black bro duo that would die for each other, and Chris adds so much just by being Chris and being in the video. That conversation they had in the first few minutes, and the bit at the end of the video just felt so natural. And the setting and time period as a whole make this feel like an entire mafia based action comedy. All these elements make this my personal favorite out of all his song/videos.

He's such a skilled dancer. His moves have influenced younger generations like Justin Timberlake and Usher for good reason. And no one even comes close to his sound, there will never be another MJ. Take notes kids, this is actual talent. And let me just add that the cast in this video is amazing.

@African Logic He influenced them. And they aren’t trying to rip off his moves but they use it as a base to modify them. That or they will imitate (not duplicate) him. And many artists even to this day sample his songs. .

What I think a lot of people didn’t know about Michael was how much he studied. He studied anything he could get his hands on. Old movies, magic, science, art, psychology. He had a really sharp intellect. He also studied classical music and was familiar with the obscure and the famous composers. He didn’t discriminate, but found inspiration in any thing that was well crafted, well written, and done with artistry and precision. You can see the inspiration in just this video-bob fosse, film noir, Charlie Chaplin, even Bruce lee. Look at the choreography in the fight seen. His light shone too bright for this world, and the world worshipped him and then crucified him. He was a true artist and I always felt that King of Pop was too small of a title for him. Rest In Peace Michael. I’m not religious but in my fantasies, you finally get to live a life, for you and only for you the second time around.

Iliana yeah it’s cool. Chris tucker was MJ best friend. If you watch MJ anniversary special on KZfaq Chris comes out at the end and dances around MJ. It was cool but what was really cool was when MJ gave him a hug you could see the genuine love MJ had for Chris.

In my opinion, the short film only ruined this video. There is a reason it is called a music video, if I wanna watch a movie I do just that. I would rate 2/10 for the short film because it sucked but 10/10 for the song, music video and choreography.

I met someone with it back in 1982 and it looked quite alarming - random white spots on otherwise smooth dark skin. Hers was just small dots - his was worse, as the patches get bigger. I wish he had been more up front about it in the 1990s when people were making fun of him bleaching for an unnamed "mysterious skin disease," which they assumed was a lie. Our poor boy. :-(
