If you use an indoor antenna don't cheap out. Don't believe exaggerated range for cheap ones. If you live close to the broadcast towers the cheap ones will work. Look for one that has a coax cable fitting at the antenna and use a RG6 cable with triple or quad shielded cable. Antennas that come with a skinny cable permanently attached are garbage. I started with one and the pixelation was terrible. With a shielded cable results are excellent. I'm in my antenna setup about 40 bucks. If you are very far from the broadcast antenn🎉a you might have to have an roof mounted model.

Several years ago I was paying Comcast $234.00 a month for cable tv, phone, and internet service. I had been a Comcast customer since the 1980's. But, enough was enough. I dropped cable tv, kept the internet service and signed up for streaming services. I was still paying about $100.00 a month for internet service. But, lately AT&T fiber has come to my neighborhood. Now I'm paying half as much for twice the speed and lovin it.

We've been with Comcast Xfinity the last ten years for internet and cable tv, we didn't like the idea of going with satellite dish services, and there was no other worthy internet service that was wired in. But recently AT&T installed a large equipment pole on our street and I've been wondering if this is for wired internet... Can you please tell me what is the website for AT&T Fiber..? We are now very tired of the high costs of cable + internet with Comcast Xfinity and their extra bogus fees, and are inching our way towards cutting the cable service and only keeping the internet plan, and then signing up for a live tv streaming service. Thanks for your input about AT&T Fiber and how I can find out more info.

@@belaalee One good thing is that it was easy to drop Comcast. When I went into the Comcast store to return my Comcast modem and drop my service, the person I spoke to just said, "Ok.". No, trying to talk me out of it, no offering lower rates, just a simple transaction. FWIW, I now use KZfaq TV as my main streaming service. But, there are lots of them available. See which one(s) are best for you.

@@belaalee The best thing I ever did with my TV was dumping cable. I kept the internet though. Got a $40 ROKU stick and signed up for Sling. It was so easy and worked so well I took all my cable TV boxes to the store and turned them in the next day. Good riddance. I'm in a major city so I put an antenna outside on my eve and I get major network channels for local news plus a bunch more. Now I'm looking at ATT fiber internet that is almost half of my cable internet service. Do it!

I didn't just cut the cable cord. I removed all broadcast television from my home. And I did it in 1997. It changed my life. The biggest impact it had with something I never saw coming: it virtually eliminated my consumerism. And one impact of that was because I stopped seeing food in restaurant commercials, I lost 55 lbs. 😎

Xfinity and Comcast is the same company. Comcast is the parent company, as Xfinity is just their Provider for service: Internet, TV, and Phone. But in the past couple years, Comcast Xfinity was contacting individuals to upgrade their modem. Since most users were running DOCSIS 3.0. They were upgrading to 3.1 for faster speeds via DL/UL. Which I heard is currently happening. The problem with Comcast, like other provider companies is, people pays for x price for their device… and the company keeps taking your money; but never contacting you for a better one… for the same price.

I am so glad I found your videos! I have had the Comcast triple-play bundle for years and years, and while it once made economic sense, it no longer does as they have raised their price three times in under five months. Today's bill is ten bucks more than last month's, which was ten bucks more than the month before. I still use a home phone and have accepted that I will have to use my cell all the time. I am nervous about changing so much tech in my life all at once, especially as I am not very tech-savvy. There is no competition for Comcast where I live but I won't continue to allow them to take financial advantage of me. People like you, Michael, perform an important-and comforting-service. Thanks.

So are you going to internet only? Xfinity Mobile (Verizon network) isn’t a bad service if you don’t have something lined up for cell phone. I used it as my primary carrier a few years ago and have lots of content on it. But I also understand why some people want to get as far away from their cable provider as possible. Good luck.

@@RichieColemanSrHi Richie-Seems to work well enough. I did T Mobile check if available in my area and initially reported not able to sign up. Months later checked again and was available and signed up. Location of tower is key and I live in two story house and recommended to set up near window on second floor. I relocated my wireless router to upstairs and for added coverage added network extenders that connected to my router. This was not absolutely needed but did not want drop. The T Mobile unit is modem and has ethernet port and wireless but wanted to use my router. Just checked internet and download is 146 Mbps and upload is 27 Mbps. This is wireless speeds and better than I had with Spectrum. Some people who have better coverage have reported faster speeds than I. I have IPTV service and various streaming apps and almost never have any hiccups with service.

I've been a KZfaq TV subscriber since it was first available in my area. It was great in the beginning, somewhere around $45-$50 a month and now I'm paying $100 and rarely even use it. I think for most people once they ditch any sort of cable TV whether it's from a local provider or live tv streaming service, they'll realize they don't even miss it. We mainly watch on demand content, Apple TV, regular KZfaq, MAX, and Netflix. As you said that's where the best content is anyway. The only thing keeping regular cable tv and streaming tv providers in business is sports content, i.e. ESPN. Once it goes a la carte, they're done.

If you're paying for hundreds of channels and only watching a hand full, you're WAY overpaying for your service. The channels on streaming are the same channels except you can at least get it for half the price. Just buy the internet access, your streaming service and your streaming boxes. Once you pay for the streaming boxes there's no more monthly cable box rental fees.

@@stageactor1958 I can now. I figured out what I was doing wrong. When I would add programs to my library, KZfaq TV would add on demand versions of shows that had already aired. I am actually able to fast forward through commercials on recorded programs.

I cut the cord over a decade ago. Streaming is the new normal. I just moved into an apartment complex rental that offers free unlimited decent WiFi internet service. I purchased two Roku TVs to go with that. Now I have endless free entertainment, no cable bills. I get Netflix free with my cellphone plan and only watch free streaming channels/apps and I get local channels too. Sweet! 😊

Another thing to remember when deciding on internet only plan is if you work remotely and rely on the same internet connection to work remotely, you may need to jump to the 400-600 Mbps plan. Consider also wired connections in home may be faster and more reliable than wireless. Having newer networking equipment is usually better. Also unless you have a guaranteed level of service (internet connection speed) then your speed from your provider can vary sometimes widely out of the expected range. Great video and great content.

Don’t forget, regular news (not local) is often streamed or packaged for a video on regular KZfaq. They also do sports, like college football, with delayed showings that cut out everything except the plays. So, if you’re like me, most games (except for my team, lol) I might be interested in, but it’s much better to watch a 30 minute video with all the plays than to waste 3-4 hours of a Saturday when I could be outside, enjoying the fall weather. Thanks for the video.

The live stream for games constantly freezes or there is a message about a problem with connecting. Then there is no customer service w/Hulu. No one to call or talk to. And most of these companies have no customer service.. I shouldn’t have to pay when I can’t see all the game because it freezes constantly…. Thanks for the good info abut cord cutting..

Biggest issue I am currently seeing is much of the new programming has been moving behind singular channel or service subscription services. Start adding in all the required singular plans one needs today then the first thing you know you are back to paying the full price you were paying before. Just to give an example is like the popular Yellowstone spinoffs are behind the Paramount+ service or now take some NFL games are on the NFL channel while Thursday games are Amazon Prime subscription required. I actually keep You Tube TV as much for the included free DRV as I prefer to watch tv on my schedule rather than the networks but I hate paying the $85 a month because of the sports plan I have to add to get some programming I like.

How can we use your method with our current equipment? Our Mac computer is currently running on 10.13.6 and can’t be updated with any newer software 😢. I cancelled my cable tv service in 2023 and bought an amazon fire cube in order to replace it as I do not have a smart tv. I then cancelled my subscriptions to several apps/channels that I was not watching very often. Finally, I bought a Motorola modem and returned my Comcast/Xfinity modem. I have not signed up for a live tv streaming service. Because of these steps I am saving approximately $100.00 a month vs what I was paying when I had cable tv service.
