Hi all welcome back to another video Dereck Reacts back at it again! This time around we take a look at another reaction of Michel Berger this time around ft. Daniel Balavoine with their song "La minute de silence." This is another deep lyrical song that evokes sadness but also about love within ites meaning. The two sing so beautifully together it's really hard to tell them apart. See my reaction now!

This song is extremely moving when you can understand and feel the words as he says them. So beautiful and depressing, so deep and powerful, there's magic there. He was an extraordinary talented composer and song writer. All of his songs are gold, they speak right to the heart and soul. On a song like that, all you can do is cry.

Thank you Dereck for the tributes you pay to our french artists on your channel. This genuine emotion you get as a non french speaking guy is really moving. Those two guys were friends and when Balavoine passed away in a helicopter crash it came quite as a shock... Berger wrote a beautiful song about it, his wife France Gall sung it... It's called "Évidemment"... Check it out 👍

Yes you're right. Death was around Michel Berger. He lost his brother in 1982. His daughter was sick with no hope of healing. And I read somewhere that he was convinced to die young. He tend to compose melancholic songs and France Gall had to push him to produce more uptempo, rhythmic and more entertaining music.

Thank you so much, Dereck for all your videos and especially picking up this song in particular - one of my favorite by Michel Berger, featuring Daniel Balavoine. Saddest song ever when you know what happened to both of them later on... By the way, you are right when you say that it feels like Michel Berger had some kind of fascination for death. His father abandoned his family when he was a kid, his brother died in the early 80s, and his daughter became very ill as a child and eventually died a few years after Michel passed away... His life was surrounded by abandon and (fear of) death and his songs are impregnated by this... Michel Berger was a musical genius and a wonderful songwriter. Most of his songs are fabulous.

Une minute de silence in french talks as often with berger, as a prophetic moment for the future when he and he’s dear friend died in an helicopter accident. This second song Berger wrote for them to sing on live, deals about us listening to them, gone, but still here but through the Music. Berger used to work in Los Angeles and engaged californian african musicians. You can listen the commentary version by france gall on the greatest POUR ME COMPRENDRE. Other commentary version on the same LP, teaches a LOT about the magical universe of Michel. Thanks for picking this pearl out of the deep blue

Each time that Michel sang this music 🎶 live he usually asked the audience to make a minute of silence . Not claping their hands. Nothing. You must find " Simple Je " de France Gall a Berry in 1993. She sang all these songs 🎵 live on a double CD . Michel was dead unfortunately 😪 and France paied him an huge tribute. France Gall sang this song a Bercy in 1993 , as Michel, she asked a minute of silence. By the way , you can hear France Gall singing in the choirs . Thank you so much . This is a beautiful beautiful song. Unfortunately Daniel died 😞 too. One of the first songs that Lara Fabian sang with 19 years old was " L ' Aziza est en pleurs " an hommage to Daniel. Someone fascinated with death that actually died too young, Michel too...

Michel Berger was a brilliant man. He had a PhD in philosophy, besides being one of the most influencial song writers of his generation. He touched people deeply with his songs. I still miss his depth and musicality to this day... There is a clip of the two of them (Michel and Daniel) singing this song side by side. Very poignant to watch in hindsight, as both of them died well before their time.

You can argue that Michel Berger was not a great singer (he's the singer here btw), but he was a great composer and he wrote for other artists a lot. This is one of his best songs in my opinion. Daniel Balavoine is featured here, doing back vocals.

Daniel Balavoine s Death broke Michel Berger s heart. They were like brothers. Michel Berger died of à heart attack alter being abandonned by his father and Veronique Sanson, lost his brother of desease, Daniel Balavoine of an helicopter s accident. And his daughter was condamned with mucovicidosis. He could not take more, and we still regret him

Nothing else really to say todat, after several monthes of french songs. You know the best composers of french 20 th century (Michel Berger, Laurent Boutonnat, Daniel Balavoine, Jean-Jacques Goldman). You have to discover Zazie, and your culture will be great about french musical emotions.
