Michelin Website has a lot of reviews about tire vibration. Haus, you still alive?
@tristanweis5065
@tristanweis5065 2 жыл бұрын
Vibration is real. 2021 FLHTK 130/70R18 date code 0421. I can confirm terrible news give like vibration at 35-40MPH. Don’t even feel good in the corners. Only 150 miles on them and they are coming for for Dunlop American Elites. Worst part, no warranty. Michelin makes a tire to fit an FLHTK Ultra Limited, but doesn’t have one that fits. Told “improper fitment” and warranty claim was denied. Total garbage.

I changed my stock tyres after only 8000 totally worn out,the commander ll I've been riding on have. Improved the ride comfort, noise and handling approximately 25% both dry/wet. Just hit the 1000 mile mark and all is good, a sound investment I personally think! Ride safe brothers and sisters, from the U.K

@@freebehindbars8654 As I commute daily and having now had these tyres 2 years compared to the stock scorcher tyres. So grip, ride comfort, plus more milage

I put these on my 2015 Ultra Limited Low before my 4200 mile trip to CO and beyond. I'll just say there was a lot of floorboard dragging and I felt perfectly comfortable doing it. The tires gripped great. Now, the only thing where I was not impressed, which was my main concern putting these one, was the wet control. I had some rain, riding on some surface roads, round abouts and such, the tire seemed to let go pretty easy, giving you that heart in your throat when it side slips. Had to go real slow and nervously.

I am on a Vulcan 900 Custom. Due to supply issues I have the touring on the front, and a cruiser on the rear. 6000 kms in the last two and a bit weeks, with loaded panniers and camping gear on the back seat. In the dry I am using different PSI to Kawasaki recommendations, slightly lower in the front (less push during corners) and higher in the rear. Until it rains. The rear was deadly at 36 to 40 PSI. I drop back to the 32 that Kawasaki recommends when it is raining. And they are still slippery. They have already outlasted the stock Dunlop and have improved the dry handling. Just need to take it very easy in the wet. Which is hard in an Australian summer! Happy with them compared to the Dunlops which cracked longitudinally at 110 Kph in the low 30s travelling around 800kms per day. 3000kms of that and they were looking very bad. Cracking badly on both front and rear. I kept the Dunlops at the Kawasaki recommended pressure checking cold every morning.

I'm looking for the comment that you promised about how many miles you got out of the rear tire on your Harley. Does the lack of a comment mean that you haven't ridden the bike enough yet to wear the tire out? If that is the case, it sounds like you guys need more test riders. I would definitely be willing to help you guys out. I live in south Alabama and I ride year round. Send me a bike and let me know how many miles you need me to put on it, I'm willing to make the sacrifice for the sake of honest product reviews.

G'Day, I am about to buy another rear tyre, the last two Commander 3's I have gotten around 14,000 k's out of them both, I do not ride real hard or do burn outs, next tyre will be 23rd tyre in 16 years on two different Softails, a 2006 that was written off when some one cut in front of me at around 96,000 km's in 2012 & an as new 2008 that replaced it now with 125,000 km's on it, these tyres are not getting any cheaper & I have tried most of them available, I will never buy another Bridgestone Battle Axe, was supposed to be good for an extra 30% wear, I had 7,200 km's on one when canvas started to show, 200 wide tyres seem to be a scam & I really don't know how some one these guys commenting get all the miles/km's they reckon, may be its just our shitty roads in South Australia ?

While maintaining speed (not accelerating) the tire broke loose on new wet asphalt. Two of my friends who also have Street Glides and the same rear tire have both experienced similar traction issues with this tire. None of us felt it was a hydroplane situation and none of us were in the center of the lane where oil collects. If you are considering this tire or already have it be careful in wet conditions.

@@AnthonyClaxton-iu1rr They've worked pretty good so far. Not a problem at all. I've even started thinking that this might be a good combination because you have somewhat more stability on the rear with the touring tire, but you also have somewhat more maneuverability on the front with the cruiser one as the Vegas has that slim tire that I feel need as much grip as possible. So this is a combination I would definitely recommend.

If the 880 and 888 are any indication, noticeably better. Pirelli made those Metzelers harder to get treadwear rather than using a more expensive compound, and it made them slippery. If you want grip above mileage, avoid any longevity tires.

There are far too many reports of vibration and noise issues with the C3 to instill any confidence, both on the harley forums and on michelin's product page. The most common problem is a buzzing/singing noise from the front at sub-highway speeds riding straight. The number of complaints is telling because everybody wants to love these tyres after enjoying the C2s so much. Maybe the problems are more prevalent with the touring version, but I'm done digging around after no peep from michelin.

Michelin changed their chemical silica compound. What they're claiming is more chemical wet grip with improved handling. Excessive siping can cause tire flex. Which is why a lot of people didn't like the Road 4 tires. What Michelin is trying to do is improve wet weather grip (via chemical compound changes) as well as handling (via reduced siping).

@SpurgeonDunbar
@SpurgeonDunbar 4 жыл бұрын
@@VeritasEtAequitas what's the bad info? We've installed the tire on a bike and are in the process of testing it, I talked about my previous experiences with the Commander II, and we discussed Michelin's claims. Short of getting the chemical makeup of the tire, which manufacturers keep under wrap, what additional information do you want to hear? As I mentioned in the previous comment above yours, the major change in the tire industry was the introduction of silica. Thus manufacturers began experimenting with what has been referred to as "chemical grip". Prior to this, engineers' main tool in expelling water and maintaining traction was limited to utilizing varying tread patterns. In perfect conditions, riding on ideal surfaces, there would be no need for tread patterns, as they reduce the amount of rubber within the contact patch that mates up with the surface of the road. Tread patterns also introduce unwanted tire flex. This was a problem that Michelin struggled with in their Sport Touring line with their Road 3's and they've been reducing their tread pattern ever since. From what I can tell, the same technological advances are being carried over here, Change the chemical compound of the tire to maintain better chemical grip and reduce tread to improve handling. Again, unless the manufacturers are willing to release the chemical makeup of a tire's compound, we are limited in what we have to talk about outside of what we can glean from personal experience with the tire as well as the claims Michelin is making. It's not a sales pitch as I don't care what tires you buy for your bike. We're just trying to provide the basic information to help folks get started on their research to figure out what tire is going to work for their style of riding. If mileage is your thing, Michelin has been a leader in class for a while and now they're working on improving handling and grip as well. It's going to take us a while to test the overall mileage claims, but once we do, we'll be pinning a comment to the top.

I expect to get 22.5k until wear bars, 25k until bald based on tread depth measurement on the CII. hard-bagged VN900 same weight as a Dyna Wide Glide. So... are the front tires also dual-compound? Better grip with CII or CIII. Metzeler didn't get tread life out of the ME880 so they made the 888 really hard and it makes them slippery. Dunlops are kind of the worst of both worlds. Not great any anything. Especially factory originals, which are designed to wear out fast. They're nothing like aftermarket.
