FYI: Regarding tread life, my vehicle is fairly light at 3200lbs. The specific vehicle, wheel profile setup, driver habits, climate/environment, and especially proper maintenance inflation etc… will always be pivotal to tire life and longevity! One observation is that the inner tread sipes are now straight and not very sharp, as opposed to their original defined zig zag formation. May or may not affect upcoming snow/ice performance this winter. The tread features on these however are full depth, as well as Michelin’s thermally adaptive compound! • Michelin Cross Climate... These tires are directional*, rotate only straight forward and back, no crossing
NOTE: GAS MILEAGE Did go down slightly. And depending on exact vehicle/setup you may lose a few MPG. You’ll save a good chunk of that money later when not having to swap mount out tires in the winter, nor purchase a separate set. But for a Crosstrek like my car, the observed small difference was of little matter.
WINTER PERFORMANCE: • Classic nor'easter bli... or • Michelin CrossClimate ... or… • Snow squall chase 2/19...

WET PERFORMANCE: • Evening thunder thumpe...

All of that (and dry performance): • You gotta be kidding me

You don’t really need to replace those at all until they eventually (whenever) do die via the batteries run out. And given the cost of new sensors and installation, not worth it- Just have your own accurate gauge to check them IMHO.

How do you feel about the mushy feel on center on dry pavement because the tires have no center rib? I had these on my Chrysler 300 C and the understeer was an irritant. How have they been for you with the cornering on dry hot pavement?
@OneLeggedStormChaser
@OneLeggedStormChaser Жыл бұрын
Well that’s a rear wheel drive vehicle. So while I can’t make improper assumptions, it’s important to make note that maybe they were only mounted newly on the rear, and mismatched/used/worn in tires were on the front. As for myself and most others, we observe solid dry handling braking and cornering from these tires given that the unique tread design utilizes the entire width

@@OneLeggedStormChaser thank you for your response. I bought the set of 4 new and only had less than 3000 miles on them and I was experiencing the mushy handling for the whole 3000 miles before I traded that car in on a Nissan Murano AWD which I’m thinking of getting the CC2s for as well. Maybe they will handle better for me on a completely different vehicle with the AWD. Shall see I guess…

@@bradley7506 Interesting. The last possibility would be if they were especially under inflated or even overinflated. There’s always some glitches or flaws on a small percentage within a product line on the manufacturing process, even the best brands like Michelin it’s possible to get a bad pair. However regarding vehicle suspension it can’t hurt to get a yearly alignment check

My driveway is gravel 😢, and im in construction so parking lot is gravel/ dirt, do i really have to take the time to clean out the rocks?
@OneLeggedStormChaser
@OneLeggedStormChaser 10 ай бұрын
I wouldn’t worry too much about it as long as you can get at higher speeds or on the highway often to clean them out themselves. But any tire with an active tread pattern for good all-weather rain/snow traction… will collect pebbles between those treads, it’s a trade off. But some have treads a little* further apart/slightly wider grooves. If you’re looking for that with good all-weather traction, plus good for the dirt & gravel terrains you’re on… go with the Falken Wildpeak AT3Ws, perfect match. Just don’t get the harder compound LT… get the regular passenger rated ones (hopefully a matching size). 30k review for these BTW… kzfaq.info/get/bejne/rNeRopVkyrCqgp8.htmlsi=a5M7AKbCqlH8y61l

Depends on several factors. I assume you're referring to the LTX M/S ones? They're both gonna be terrific in the rain. But while the defenders are pretty decent/solid in winter weather... these have the clear edge; especially for harsh/untreated/significant conditions. Otherwise, the Climates also have a little better performance in the dry for braking and handling. Here's the full extensive, 30k review kzfaq.info/get/bejne/rNeRopVkyrCqgp8.html

Not any similar stories at least that I’ve ran into online or researching. Michelin’s are normally pretty good with that. Beware who’s doing the work, are they worth it on repeated attempts? Example- kzfaq.info/get/bejne/rLOHhrB_3bW2p6c.html If not I’d look for someone else with good customer reviews and experience. Something sounds wack, was it the dealership or “stealership”? Also check the vehicle’s alignment and suspension components.

@@OneLeggedStormChaser Hello, thank you for your response. I'm going to the place that I purchased the Michelin tires from as they do the balance checks and adjustments for free. They are a store that only does tires and nothing else. They are a nationwide chain and have been around since the early 60's. So, I would like to think they know what they are doing. When I first purchased the Michelin tires and kept returning for them to check the balance, after about the fourth time, they replaced the two front tires under Michelin's warranty. I also get my alignment checked at least every 3 months, if not more often. So my alignment should be pretty good. So, I don't know if it's just the rims that Dodge put on the Grand Caravan or perhaps they need to do a better job of cleaning up the residue from previous weights that they have used to balance my tires and because of this, the weights are falling off and then causing my tire balance to be off.

Between 5.5 & 6 32nds tread after 42k miles. Put on a fresh full tread set last month temporarily for remainder of winter

Dude, these tires are good down to 2mm of tread! (less than 2/32!) Michelin CC2 are premium grand touring and designed with Total Life Performance and they perform even better on dry at 2 mm than brand new at 7.94 mm. Just bought a set and I feel like I upgraded my suspension! Love em! They're quiet and they'll work great in Chicago winters. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/hr5_eJR11dC1d5s.html
@OneLeggedStormChaser
@OneLeggedStormChaser Жыл бұрын
… All tires’ dry performance actually increases with age because as you wear out the tread, you’re increasing the direct flat rubber contact more towards a bald racing tire. That’s by default 😁. And yes they’ll be great for you in winter (see description). The special thermally-adaptive compound is kept same by Michelin throughout it’s tread life all the way down on these, and there’s hidden groves built to emerge later on in its life. Only mini downside is they’ll likely get a little noisy when more worn; but that can be minimized by good care via proper inflation, alignment, suspension, and religious rotation every 5k oil change!
