Michelin has just launched its latest Energy XM2+ tyres for the Malaysian market. Available in 14- to 16-inch sizes, the XM2+ is the entry level Michelin tyre catering primarily to B-segment buyers.
To prove a point, we were given worn tyres to test during the event to show how the Energy XM2+ largely preserves its wet performance well past its recommended lifespan.
That being said, we should warn that this not an endorsement to use these XM2+ tyres beyond their recommended lifespan.

While i applaud the technology of the compound in this new tyre. I really dont like the wrong message they are sending out with this campaign. Tyre groove means the deeper it is, the deeper your 'longkang' is, means it displaces more water. These tests where the cement floor literally has probably 1mm of water doesnt bring out the question of tread depth but wrongly assume everything is about compound. No people, dont ever think that if you have a used XM2 means you can conquer any rain om tarmac. The moment you come across a higher standing water, your compound means nothing if the thread depth isnt enough to displace water and just rides on top of it.

XM2+ price is more expensive than Toyo TR1 for 15" tyre. Don't think the grip better than TR1 (ya wrong class... But cost still the direct gunshots to wallet)

I'm a cc6 user on new persona 2016, i was praising cc6's comfort when is new, now is 1.5 years in, can spin my wheel from stop go, i can slip my tyres when cornering like takumi. and is funky to see my VSC lights turn on and off. The other day i was cruising at 60 at LDP in a heavy rain, when i step and the pedal to over take a lorry, to 70, my car swirl towards right before i even turn the wheel. when going over puddle(no takung air kind, surface water when is heavy rain you imagine), felt like im driving on ice again with my VSC flashing like disco light. i come to this video only to be confirmed that cc6 is just garbage when it comes to grip, comfort can throw out of the window if im risking myself to crash every time i drive in rain, consider malaysia has huge amount rain fall. goodbye cc6, you will not be missed. ohh yea not to mention cc6 worn just less than 30k

@@isaacelone3699 If you were to get Continental tyres for 16 inch and below, just find other better tyres that are good in dry and wet condition. It's better not to risk your life for the sake of comfort and lower cost tyres. Continental MC6 are good though but I would like to try Michelin PS5....

Problem with XM2 is the premature cracking just after 2 years. As a low mileage driver that means tyre change before 20k km for me. Hopefully this is addressed in the XM2+. I prefer the CC6 for comfort and ride. I get a wider tyre to compensate the slightly lower grip level. Also XM2 is priced at UC6 levels, not CC6 and ecopia which are 40% cheaper.
@stefstef4895
@stefstef4895 4 жыл бұрын
Premature cracking depends on a lot more factors than people think and has no effect on two-year-old tires

CC6 is quiet but when taking high speed corner you can really feels higher body roll. Changed to XM2 cornering is really good and no slip during driving in wet condition. The cons is only the tyre noise which is quite noticeable compared to CC6

Thank you for this wonderful tire comparison. I'm looking to change new tires and this video comparison really helps. However, this video is more towards performance where Michelin is obviously strong point and I don't think is fair comparison with ECOPIA and CC6 since both the tire is meant for different purpose. ECOPIA for fuel economy and low tire resistance while CC6 is gearing towards performance. However, as performance is concerned, it does seems XM2+ is a winner and it's consistency even a worn tire. Great stuffs!

Good coverage. This is the sort of comparison whereby the competitors' model is made known that will give potential buyers the much needed information. That said, having run on XM2s and XM1s with other entry level tires before, I find the Michelins the most consistent performer as they age so far. Biggest surprise from the clip was how an almost decade old thread design can still better the much newer EP300 and CC6 at least in the shown tests.
@xmenlingcheehuat0811
@xmenlingcheehuat0811 5 жыл бұрын
Yea, the thread design actually cannot be related to the performance of particular tyre depending on what kind of performance that we want such as nvh, grip level and durability. Some tyres with very streamline looking thread doesn't mean that they are superior on wet surface. So, depends on what we want, give and take is always there for every tyres.

after 3years of testing ,i been tested PS3 and XM2+ , the ps3 can feels steering more precise when cornering ,xm2+ feels softer Xm2+ much less noise and softer when over bump or small holes , and the body roll of ps3 10-20% better than xm2+ when high speed cornering XM2+ = comfort PS3 = performance

@@CharlesHD4846 kinda hard to find people comparing UHPs and the XM2+ despite how long the tires have been out for lol. How's the handling during wet roads, any significant difference? What about sharp corners, I wouldn't expect people to be spirit driving on the XM2's but is there any slipping/screaming tires/ under steering with the them? Really glad to stumble upon your input on this 3 year old vid lmao

I gave up on Michelin tires 3 years ago when one of my 2 months old tire became "pregnant" due to hitting a pothole when my Myvi went into a puddle of waters. The Tire shop says it's not covered. I check with my neighbor who also use the same tire & he told me he also has the same problem. We think the Michelin steel-belted sidewall tire was broken due to the impact. I kept the tire in my garage as a souvenir now. Funny how the rim is not even damaged by the impact but the Mich tire got pregnant. Once beaten twice shy. I hope those who are currently using Michelin know what they are paying for. M'sian roads are full of potholes hence choosing a good set of tires is very important. I am using conti CC6 for the Myvi. Caveat Emptor/Buyer beware.

How does the cc6 fare? I see a lot of cc series worn pretty fast. Is it true?
@Mikey-fo9mm
@Mikey-fo9mm 5 жыл бұрын
@@proakkie942 My cc6 basically are soft tires. I have no problem with it since changing 18 months ago with 9,000km used. If I drive it carefully with proper alignment & balancing, I think it will last 30,000km without a problem as it still looks 80% worn only. IMO, most soft tires are the same. If you trash the tires with hard acceleration/braking, these tires will not last long. Driving safely will save you $$$ not to mention spending less $$$ on maintenance too.

Mikey lol, good luck with cc series if your concern is pothole resistant, they're even worse in that respect. btw i guess the pothole you hit were at pretty high speed as xm2 are very durable tire and designed specifically against pothole crash

I am a previous user of two generation of xm1 and xm2. When it was new tyre, it was like Michelin, fat and soft. But once the Michelin reduce fat and start to wear half way, the tyre wrinkle at the side and become harden. I Aqua plan once during raining and I immediately sold it half way the wear rate because I value my life and family life more than.
