The most decorated figure skater in U.S. history, Michelle Kwan is no stranger to the intensity of professional competition or the unprecedented pressure Olympic athletes face. The two-time Olympic medalist, five-time World Champion and nine-time U.S. champion sat down with Moira Forbes to discuss strategies for achieving a peak performance mindset and how she’s finding new purpose after her Olympic career.
As part of her next chapter, Kwan will host the upcoming documentary podcast “Summer of Gold.” Produced by TOGETHXR and Dear Media, the series will revisit the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta through the lens of the female Olympians who dominated that summer, and comes ahead of the 25th anniversary of the Games.

Gold or Silver u won in the hearts of everyone watching!!! And just for the record I've always said that the Gold metal belonged to u...ur programs were always so beautifully done . u always brought so much too them full of magic ,love and emotion...we miss u!

Every aspiring athlete and elite level athlete needs to watch this. Michelle truly summarizes it so well as she's experienced it firsthand and achieved so much in her sport. Not only that, the transition from retirement of sport to other avenues/careers can be very daunting for athletes as well, and Michelle has handled it extremely well. She is a model of success both in sport and out of sport. Her contributions to her sport, and continuing contributions to our country and society as a diplomat is impressive. Athletes are high achievers so it's no surprise they translate that high achievement in sport to their personal & professional life.

If people held the Olympics each year, Michelle would win the most golds in the history. Just like she won 5 time World champion and 9 time National titles.

She never neede it, it needed her. Ladies skating OG without Michelle Kwan's name on it has lost its luster, its shine and magic. Her overall career and legacy is bigger than any Olympics. Quite simply, the greatest.

She didn't win the gold because that decision was made by other people..Someone's opinion stood in her way. She remains gracious about the whole thing and this is the downside of sports that are judged instead of being timed

Im confused here, so wiki says midori ito has earned the most 6.0 marks, seven 6.0 marks but wiki also says that michelle has earned 57 6.0 marks so doesnt that mean MK has the leading record that will never be broken since they dont have the 6.0 scores?

I'm sorry that she didn't win the Olympics gold which she really deserved. Actually, Michelle was robbed at the 98 Olympics ..... Tara's artistry was far from Michelle's. Tara's technique wouldn't get marks under the new system. Michelle challenged herself at the 2002 Olympics, she beat herself. Michelle shouldn't be alone without Frank Carroll to join the 2002 Olympics. However, when she came back to win the 2003 World championship again that made she became a legend.

My favorite was Sasha Cohen, who despite skating with anxiety was the most mesmerizing and complete when at her best. That best won her the Olympic Silver, a higher achievement than Kwan's medals. Kwan is ok to me and deserves recognition. However, everyone faced the same pressure, especially top athletes. The ones able to keep as solid a mind as possible will be the overall best and medalist at the Olympics.

Olympics had nothing special if people held it each year. Even Michelle didn't win the Olympics gold, she was the best skater in her era. Tara Lipinski and Sarah Hughes skated under Michelle's shadow.

@@TT-ee4qp I hear you but i'm not the one who established which level of medals is higher. That's like saying because someone always got the highest in homeroom tests, another classmate cannot beat them at the ultimate external exams. It's the ultimate exam that truly counts. Sad maybe, but it is what it is, and Sasha achieved the highest between them regardless of opinions.
