I agree but I'm Canadian as well, lol I also think that they should do away with "parties...Democrats/Republican...Conservative/Liberal) since truly you are voting for a person and the majority of the time sadly it's the person who will do the least amount of damage.

“As a Canadian...” is a pretty smug position to take here. The Canadian electoral system is no prize either. Look up Single Member Plurality (aka “First past the post”). It’s not active suppression, but it’s not great.

Tricia Barr You have it really backwards there-it’s the parties that tend to do less damage and the individual agenda and personality that causes the problem. In systems where parties function more as bodies of government (for example, Germany, Sweden) there is generally more co-operation. In North America, it tends to be the political theatre that gets in the way.

Ballet shoes are coloured so that it gives the appearance of elongation of the legs. This wouldn't work with dancers with darker skin tones and traditional coloured shoes.

@Melani Natasha the point is it wasn't important to the *manufacturer* before. People of colour had to do DIY to make them the right colour. It's about demand. Your last sentence is a bit silly. Why are you sure? Do you manufacture them? They straight up said they use make-up or paint in the video. If they did that, why are you so "sure colored shoes of multiple skin tones existed even before"? They definitely wouldn't all be exactly the same, but the whoke point is they are/were designed with the Caucasian in mind. Now they are expanding their target market officially instead of having black people paint their shoes.

@Melani Natasha What are you complaining about? The fact that the news highlighted a company that makes different coloured shoes? You have ridiculous reasoning. Maybe the demand for the coloured shoes wasn't as high in the past, but it is now. Why are you so bitter? I'm glad more women can now feel more included in their art, and you should too, unless you have another reason why you need to know how this is SO important? How important does it need to be for you?

The darker ballet shoes benefit everyone, idk why peeps are going to war in the comments. Once for a performance my ballet teacher asked us to wear tan painted shoes, and yes: we were told to use foundation because it gave better results than the other options we had. Another time I had to dye my pointies red and the paint I used, supposedly made for those types of shoes, made my slippers crispy and awful. Yes, the demand is important; but it's not like they've never been in demand before, by diversely colored ballerinas. It's great they've been made available, and finally the look quality between the shoes can be more equal. Now, let's keep on ruining our feet.

I always thought everybody just wore white ones, because that's the colour that ballet shoes are. Like paper towels or tampons. Dancers of colour were forced to put make-up on their shoes to match them to their skin tone? Jeez.

Ballet is a dance focused on lines and aesthetics, so the shoes are supposed to elongate our legs. When it matches our skin tones, it makes the whole line look cleaner.

They only opted to make bronze ballet shoes for the numerous tanners who kind of look more Arabic than even Arabs, but it's a suave look. So, when one likes to opt for tanning, and not because someone else wants to dictate your life's worth to you based on it, then let colored people cash in with you to say that color can be nice too! How was this ever so hard to admit when you can ensure that your fellow man didn't undergo indignities forever and a day. No one ever needs some unrelated nuisance make believing that naturally tanned people are "different" or "lesser" than tanners. Let everyone's skin do what it does, keeps your souls alive! Anything less has no proof and means that the liars that breed hateful opinions lack a good heart; a knowledgeable soul; and dislike humanity. Ergo, if they do it to one group, then they'll do it to any other group.
