First heard this in fourth grade as a child. Couldn’t put my finger on it then. But her voice is gospel im personified. She is amassing. I wish this version was on Apple Music or featured in the movie soundtrack 🩷🫶🏾

Cheryl’s cover of this song is the best I’ve heard to date. It’s even better than Chaka Khan’s version. It’s the emotion she delivers this cut with that’s unmatched. No one out does Chaka Khan.

Chaka did this song for the movie version soundtrack. But it doesn’t compare to Cheryl’s original version for the play. Her riffs and high notes are classic!

Cheryl Pepsi Riley has a beautiful voice. I love her and Chaka’s version. Tyler Perry wrote this song though. Chaka Khan sings the original. I’m getting dizzy so I can’t watch but I’m listening. I was trying to follow along with the lyrics, but the camera is having a seizure or something😏
