The film had its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival on September 6th, 2002. It opened in theaters about a month later on October 11th.
Michelle is sensational as Ingrid Magnussen. It's a role so complicated and a character so vicious, but she manages to humanize her. She was named Best Supporting Actress by the San Diego Film Critics Society and the Kansas City Film Critics Circle, and was nominated by the Washington DC Area Film Critics Association. She was also nominated for a Screen Actors Guild Award. Frankly, she should've been nominated for her 4th Oscar... but whateverrrrr.
