It sucks.. but there is light in the tunnel. The worse you feel the more damn sure you can be there will come way better days. I had chronic depression from my teens to my 30s. I quit anti depresssants and started working on myself. Most times when someone is depressed its a sign that you need to change something in your life

For everyone discussing depression to be a self inflicting illness; you’re definitely wrong. It can be passed down generation to generation and it can also happen because of a neurological issue. Makes me sad ( but not at all surprised ) that Matthew basically told her she didn’t have a reason to be depressed because of where her career was with Destiny’s child . Lets not blame Matthew Knowles, maybe he didn't know how to deal with a 19/20 year old depressed girl who was not his daughter. And if you research Michelle's time in the group, you will see that all involved bent over backwards to make her a focal point of the group and not just an invisible backup singer.. Beyonce even made it a point to 'Thank.God' for Michelle being in the group.

I identify with so much in this story. Michelle speaking on this is so important especially for individuals who live high profile lives. People say / think "you have it all" or "your so successful" how could you be depressed? What many don't understand is that people in this category often suffer the most. Imagine needing help but being afraid to ask for it or access it because if you do it will be exploited for media attention and "likes". I am happy to see mental health being amplified and that we are normalizing being honest and uplifting others continually. I LOVE when celebrities are honest and pure because there are so many people that look up to them. It’s amazing to see that money can’t buy you happiness it truly comes from within and by opening up these celebrities help others do the same. It’s not like Demi Lovato who uses her celebrity status to gain more money and attention. I have no doubt she suffered but Michelle opens up and it’s raw not to get the money out of it but simply to help others! That’s what WE need honesty not money hungry celebrities!!!

Depression is so much more than finding something that makes you happy like money, its dealing with deep rooted traumas. Sometimes we do not even realize we are so affected by these traumas or worse that they exist in our world. Thank you Michelle for sharing. Also to all those out there struggling with depression you are not alone. Please reach out and get some help!!
