Don't be surprised only one black woman has won the Best Actress Oscar and that was 21 years ago. Ironic that Halle Berry gave her the award as she is the only black woman to win it. The other 93 women are white which is crazy

I think Michelle's first really big break (By Hong Kong cinema standards i mean!) happened after she made Yes Madam movie in 1985 alongside Cynthia Rothrock! I think it was the first time she get really noticed! That is not the first movie i watched her in though as i was only born in 1987! I started watching movies back in 1992 approximately, but i hadn't heard of Michelle until she made Tomorrow Never Dies bond movie with Brosnan in mid 90's! That's when i discovered her! I missed on some of Police Story movies with Jackie Chan and catched only later on (i think around late 90's too), so i hadn't watched 3rd one until much later, where apparently Michelle made her debut in the franchise! I have watched many martial arts Hong Kong produced movies with her ever since, including Royal Warriors, Magnificent Warriors, Easy Money and some others...But my introduction to Michelle's talent started with Tomorrow Never Dies, which makes sense considering it was her initial Hollywood exposed mainstream appearance!

Without delving too much into spoiler territory from the film (at least trying not to go there too much while still explaining a bit about the bagel symbol), the black bagel is a motif used throughout the film (including long before it's symbolic meaning is revealed within the film, such as early appearing as a rings of black marker on pieces of paper + the character purchasing of bagels etc.), and both it's eventual meaning (and 3rd act plot use) is an existential one about existence. While I fear I may revealed either too much (spoiler territory wise) or too little about it (to explain it without giving spoilers) that's all I can think of saying without definitely revealing too much plot use wise in relation to it (including about the other word used with "bagel" in this film which is used as a title, as I feel using that other word here would reveal too much about the film and possibly take away from particularly it's 3rd act). While it is not 'the' central theme of the film, it is used in fascinating ways throughout it to both act and mean specific things, and I feel that nothing short of seeing the whole movie itself will adequately explain about its uses within the film.
