The only song I dislike by them is Boom because its just the group screaming Boom and then Serj making a political statement instead of singing which I don't really call a song. Its not bad its just a bit boring.

I love that you're pushing yourself out of your comfort zone. not just by listening to genres you don't usually, but also pushing yourself to keep going and check more out. You're on a roll with Rage, and Tool, and System of a Down. These are three of the BEST. I'm so happy to watch this ride you're on!

Hey, man! I'm seriously so glad you re-visited System of a Down. I fell in love with them when I was eleven-years-old. Twenty years later, they're still my #1 favorite band of all time. These guys are speaking to you the same way they have my entire life. Please, for your own good, start from the beginning of System of a Down's catalog and just listen through it song by song. You will NOT regret it, I promise you. System of a Down is a very, very special band. Every single one of their songs, from each of their records, are fantastic. And as they progress from album to album, their style blossoms and transforms in different ways, but they always retain that core level of talent, artistic expression, and musical perfection. They have songs to fit every type of mood and style, but each song still manages to kick ass. And strangely enough, their music has this innate ability to just make you smile or laugh even while you're banging your head. I hope you consider going through their catalog on your channel! And yeah, watching interviews is a GREAT idea. System is a blast in interviews. At least, they used to be back in the day from the 90's and early 2000's. They were unapologetically themselves, never caring or paying much attention to the fact they were sitting in an interview with a journalist. They cracked jokes and were rude to people they thought were phony. The day the band went on hiatus in 2006 was a devastating day for all of us. Serj Tankian is a great lead vocalist, but Daron Malakian, the guitarist, writes the majority of their songs. What makes this band so special, though, is that each member really contributes to the whole. They wouldn't be who they are if it was any other four guys. One day down the road, you should definitely get into Tool, as well. I only discovered them about two years ago, but when I heard them... it was the first time I'd EVER found another band I thought could compete with System of a Down. Tool and SOAD are the two best metal bands ever, in my opinion, and one of the reasons for it is because their music transcends the genre so that EVERYONE can love it. Just like you were saying in the video: it doesn't matter if you just shot someone or just got finished rolling 18 holes, this is music you're going to love and appreciate. Enjoy the journey, friend!

that feeling of “why am i feeling shit” “why am i about to cry” to me is the low key reason why metal is so cathartic and why it’s so compelling to listen to loudly with others also feeling it that hard. it’s like a group therapy moment lol

The verge of tears is what this song was made for, it's about how people condemn people who struggle with addiction or depression are only remembered for how they died, whether it was suicide or an overdose. Their family still feels pain and cries for them, but a lot of other people just remember them for killing themself or overdosing, and their remembered for how they died instead of how they lived. So the tears are there for a reason.

I only saw your reaction to Toxicity like a week ago, lucky that I caught this 4 hours after you post. The singer Serj is a goddamn genius. Make no mistake, the guitarist Daron (who's all tatted up) is also a key creative for the band's sound-he's the writer for most everything metal about them-but Serj is the reason that System of a Down is a cut above the other rock-metal bands from that era, he writes the strings and piano and brings the opera and the energy and the meaning that permeates it all. I felt the way you do, where you just hear these songs and you feel like you've been blasted in the face with something you've never experienced before, and I watch reacts like yours on their songs so I can feel it like it was the first time all over again. Whenever you can get around to it, other classic recommendations include their songs Aerials, BYOB (Bring Your Own Bombs), Question!, and Hypnotize. These, along with the two you've done, are some of the most frenetic back-and-forth between melodic and intense. If you want to cut more melodic, you've got Holy Mountains, Streamline, Dreaming, Soldier Side, Sad Statue. You want raw power, you go Prison Song, Deer Dance, Needles, Shimmy. But to be clear, every song of theirs is likeable-some might take time to grow on you, some are better experienced in the flow of the album (going from a few heavier songs to go to some more fun songs and back again), but there's nothing in the 5 albums I have of theirs that gets me to hit skip. EDIT: On the topic of interviews, yeah. Serj has got a lot to say and knows how to say it. When the twin towers were hit, Serj posted an essay on the band's website called "Understanding Oil", which got pulled real quick by their label because the media's immediate narrative was not about sympathy. A lot of this music was being written around the context of 9/11, the Iraq war, and other social problems that were big news in the earlier half of the 2000s. BYOB, Deer Dance, and Prison Song will put that all front and center. They also do a lot of memorializing of the Armenian Genocide-Holy Mountains will make you feel it.

System of a Down Aerials. Replay value is insane and the song is fuego. Lonely day Day is a song that can hit in the feelings. I guarantee you won't be disappointed. Aerials has deep, metaphorical lyrics while Lonely Day is a straightforward song that everybody can relate to. There's also a song called BYOB. Since you're a fan of lyrics, you'll love what Serj is saying, but sonically, it's definitely unique and I can't say for sure if you'd like it, but you should definitely give it a try.

This song in particular is really deep and hits hard once you understand the lyrics. The deeper underlying meaning behind the aggressive lyrics is that you will be judged based on HOW you die. You could do everything right your entire life, you could try as hard as you can, but if you die in a "bad way" people only remember you for that. They'll condemn you for being a drug addict if you died of an overdose, no matter the reason. No matter what might have brought you there. They'll say you deserved it. Hence the line "I cry when angels deserve to die", you could be an angel, but depending on *how* you die, people will remember you another way.

As much as I love the hate, seeing you enjoy something, especially metal and the GOD Harry Mack, does this cold heart of mine good. So many people stay in their musical lane. Your willingness to venture out of yours with an honest and open mind is just awesome. Since you’re a lyrics guy, I’ve gotta recommend Slipknot for you to check some day. Much of their early stuff combines rap elements with metal. “Spit It Out,” “Duality,” “Psychosocial” and “People = Shit” are good examples with lyrics that deliver. Lyric videos (that are actually accurate) are probably a must, but either way, I just wanted to say how much I enjoy the channel.

He has a song with tech n9ne called straight out the gate . Serj Tankian is his name, He’s also done songs without System of a Down like empty walls which is a great song by him.

You probably would like Serj's interviews, but that's also because very critical of certain aspects of society. You'll hear that in some of their other songs, such as Deer Dance or Prison Song (a lot of people are already requesting BYOB).
