He had a 27-1 record, 74% completion percentage and a 170 QB rating. And he's just turned 21. Not to mention, his coach, a former NFL QB, thinks the world of him and had him play in a pro offense. He's the perfect QB to take in the first round as a successor QB. Someone to allow to grow and develop.

@@boltman6359Not saying that Mcarthy will be great with this comment. But I hate the narrative that his oline contributed even a chunk to any success. Their Oline in the pass pro was garbage, run blocking was elite. If you look at any of Hendersons plays last year in pass pro he got man handled, especially against penn st, which is why they never passed because Mcarthy had 2 seconds in the pocket. And don’t get me started by those wide receivers. Cornelius Johnson belongs on a juco team.

Rich Eisen's advice to NFL execs about drafting J.J. McCarthy must be quite a moment for both Michigan fans and those closely following NFL prospects. Eisen, with his deep connections to both the sports broadcasting world and the University of Michigan, offers a perspective that's both informed and passionate. It's exciting to see someone with such a strong link to their alma mater provide guidance that could shape a young athlete's career. McCarthy's journey, from being a notable talent at Michigan to potentially making a splash in the NFL, is a testament to hard work, talent, and the kind of support that comes from those who truly believe in your potential. Eisen's insights likely not only highlight McCarthy's skills and readiness for the professional level but also underscore the importance of mentorship and guidance in sports. It's a reminder of how interconnected the worlds of collegiate and professional football are, and how individuals like Eisen play a crucial role in bridging that gap with their advice and advocacy.

JJ is one of the toughest QB's to evaluate in this class because Michigan asked so little of him. It's hard to know what to think of a QB when in the natty they run it on 1st and 2nd down, then ask JJ to bail them out. Sometimes he does, but sometimes he looks like they never let him get into a groove.

Not hard to evaluate J.J. Go back and watch film from his freshman year and you will see that he came to Michigan a gunslinger. I saw all I needed to see then. He was so dynamic. Now all was needed was to develop his mechanics and teach J how to control a game. The coaching staff taught J.J. to be a game controller and expected him to lead that team and make plays when needed (OSU, Bama). Remember the run game was not as good as the last two seasons (teams stacked 8 in the box and made J.J. beat them). The leg injury against Penn State made it was painful to plant and throw up to and through the Bama game. Against Maryland the pain was so bad by halftime tears rolled down his cheeks, but he insisted on finishing the game. He told his dad I'm playing. For the remaining games the staff had to make offensive adjustments to make it more comfortable for him to get the ball out. J.J. is a stud.

JJ will be better than all the QB’s in this draft. He is tougher than all of them. Love that gritty Hockey Player in him! Go for it JJ. A lot of people will be rooting for you in NFL!

Roman Wilson's draft capital went up after the Senior Bowl. Just like JJ, didn't get to show off during the season b/c Michigan is about the team so they used Corum & Edwards a lot in the run game (as well as TE Colston Loveland, who'll be returning, as he was only a sophomore). Marvin Harrison Jr is predicted to go 3rd in the draft . . . higher expectations in the NFL. If he isn't amazing, he'll be considered a bust.

As a prospect, he is 100% way off from Williams, Maye and Daniels. That’s not to say that those three will be studs and he will be a bust. He could end up being a damn good QB, even a great QB. I personally don’t know enough about McCarthy to say if I want him on my team (GIANTS), but I am going to follow him closely.

I don't see the appeal of JJ McCarthy to any team in the first round. This guy played with a coach who knows how to develop a guy for the NFL, & yet he barely used him. He was content to run the ball at Michigan. McCarthy has never had to be "the guy", so we don't have any idea if he can be that in the NFL. We don't need to bring Brady into this discussion simply because he went to Michigan & was also skinny. As for the other first round guys...I'm not convinced this draft is nearly as good at that position as people think. In fact, there are issues with all these guys. Sean Payton thinks so too. There' s a video in which he hints that he things maybe 2 of the 6 guys considered possible first round picks will make it in the NFL.

Chicago should parlay the First pick into the future drafts and keep doing it so they always have at least 2 first round picks a year. It’s the only thing they would ever be known for in this decade.

So take everyone that has flaws because Tom Brady had them? I actually like JJ, but it’s always worrisome when you ask people what someone does well and all they can spew is intangible stuff like “he’s a winner, and he’s just got it” or whatever. The QB whose draft stock is predicated on his team winning at the collegiate level is not usually a big recipe for success

If he has a quick arm the length shouldn’t matter. Unless your workied about him getting hurt. But who are these kids. How did we go from only Caleb Williams to 5-6 QBs in the top 15? They are not worth it. Last time 5 QBs went in top 15? Yeah only Trevor Lawrence is any good. He was the only one worth of first round.

LOL JJ's stats are a joke. Six times this season, including most of the back end of the season, he failed to pass 150 yards through the air. You could've put damn near anyone behind that offensive line and succeeded.

As someone who is 5’11” and has a decade plus experience in the weight room Bryce isn’t 200. My adult weight has ranged from 150 to 200 and I’d be willing to bet my life he’s not 200. Look at all the middleweight (185lbs) fighters in the ufc. They’re all undoubtedly bigger than Bryce. Light heavyweight (205lbs) make Bryce look like a little boy. He doesn’t have the muscle growth or body fat for his listed weight to be true.

Draft J.J. before 199 at your peril! Got to love scouting helmets and negative scouting reports. Brady at 199 worked superbly. J.J. at ...pick a #... may or not work as fine. But Brady and that gawd awful Michigan helmet will play no part.
