Efficiency, vigorous work ethic, and the ability to craft music that connects on an emotional level are elements that exist very rarely in one artist. Mick has achieved the level of success he has because he encompasses all these traits, and it’s great to have him on board for a discussion about what it takes to get to the top and how to maintain your health and sanity while doing it.
“My biggest advice would be to really tap into how music makes you feel, not just the technicalities behind making the music.” - Mick Gordon
ON THIS EPISODE, YOU’LL LEARN ABOUT:
- Coming up with a plan, and being able to alter that plan when needed
- Mick’s blocking approach to work scheduling
- Bludgeoning your way through projects vs. efficiency
- How Mick got into the video game music industry
- The importance of getting out of your studio
- Writing music that connects on an emotional level
- Why Mick initially composes music with crappy tones
- And much, much more

Again another awesome episode. When you were talking about metal in video games I immediately had to think of Prince of Persia - Warrior Within. Pantera did the music for that one and it's super nice :D

What? Pantera? Where were they exactly? If you are talking about the credits theme and Dahaka chase sequence then its definitely not pantera it was Godsmack.

loved the podcast but I have to disagree about the orchestral scores. Like a video a fantasy video game can't really have the doom soundtrack. When you see the dragon, it makes sense to have that heavy score. I think orchestral music will always hold up/have a place. A little late but I thought I'd throw it out there.

Eyal Levi come on man that isn’t what I mean. It’s opinion vs opinion. I disagreed with what was said. But he is phenomenal at what he does and I enjoy his work.
