The Rolling Stones' Charlie is my Darling -Ireland 1965. What was once rumor is now fact as ABKCO Films presents a brand new cut, meticulously restored and fully-realized version of this first-ever, legendary but never released film. Shot on a quick tour of Ireland just weeks after "(I Can't Get No) Satisfaction" hit # 1 on the charts and became the international anthem for a generation, The Rolling Stones Charlie is my Darling - Ireland 1965 is an intimate, behind-the-scenes diary of life on the road with the young Stones. It features the first professionally filmed concert performances of the band and documents the early frenzy of their fans and the riots the band's appearances inspired. Charlie is my Darling is a rediscovered letter from a lost world. It has long been a holy grail of rock fans, surfacing in bits and pieces and tantalizing but frustratingly un-synched fragments. The band is shown traveling through the Irish countryside by train; dashing from cabs to cramped, basement dressing rooms through screaming hordes of fans. Motel rooms host impromptu songwriting sessions and familiar classics are heard in their infancy as riff and lyric are united. This new 2012 version of the film with added never-before-seen footage was re-envisioned and restored by director Mick Gochanour and producer Robin Klein, the Grammy Award winning team that brought the classic The Rolling Stones Rock and Roll Circus to the screen. Charlie is my Darling's dramatic and stunning concert footage -- including electrifying performances of "(I Can't Get No) Satisfaction," "The Last Time" and "Time Is On My Side" -- shows the band developing its¬¬¬¬¬¬¬ musical style by blending blues, R&B and rock-n-roll riffs, and captures the spark about to combust into The Greatest Rock and Roll Band in the World. Candid, off-the-cuff interviews are juxtaposed with revealing, comical scenes of the band goofing on one another as well as unsuspecting outsiders, and offers an unmatched look inside the day-to-day life of the Stones. Originally directed by pioneering filmmaker Peter Whitehead and produced by Rolling Stones manager and producer Andrew Loog Oldham, Charlie is my Darling is the lost preamble to a life captured on screen. Like no other band, the Rolling Stones repeatedly put themselves under the microscope, allowing the greatest filmmakers of our era -- including Jean-Luc Goddard, the Maysles, Robert Frank, Michael Lindsay-Hogg, Hal Ashby and Martin Scorsese -- inside their world. Charlie is my Darling is the invaluable frame: the unseen story of the band becoming the legend.

Brian Jones created the Stones which say's alot...forget about the drugs he did ...everyone was smoking pot or shooting up including Keith Richards but I honestly believe there might have been some proffessional jealousy among the band members, Brian was a genius and when you have that it can get you into trouble with you're peers , very tempermental , its too bad he died so young but left a tremendous legacy...

@@SuperAnimelover100 It is probably comforting to view things in such a simplistic light, but hardly accurate is it? As talented as Brian Jones was, he was irksome; his paranoia getting the better of him eventually. Why would Jagger and Richards be jealous? They wrote all the songs...so many great songs. In our effort to deify Brian, we musn't forget these facts.

@@SuperAnimelover100 have you seen the movie 'stoned' or read Keith's autobiography? I noticed the jealousy you refer to in Keith's book, towards Brian mostly, in which he (Keith) would gang up on Brian roping in the other band members to bully and humiliate him. I also was a big fan of Brian for his multi-instrument prowess and talents, but became less so after reading about his violence against women in Keith's book. He was only human though, and his death was definitely some sort of hit and a cover-up, probably never to be known what really happened publicly

Notice how uncomfortable and pissed Mick looked? Clearly the camera was on Mick as 'band spokesman' but Brian was stealing his thunder as the elder and more seasoned musician. This occurred with greater frequency as the Stones gathered momentum and egos clashed. The problem: Too many chefs in the kitchen (both publicly and musically). Two writers were company (J&R), three a crowd. Solution: Adios Brian. It's all very Machiavellian folks but that's just Darwinism at work in a Rock 'n' Roll band.

Of course in some respects it was really wrong what Mick and Keith did to him, but I'm sure they'd say the same. It was a lot more complicated though, considering the way Brian's health deteriorated as he got more and more into drugs. He was paying less attention to the music and more to obscure projects of his own, plus the way he was treating people around him (cont)

Richards was jealous of Brian’s articulate nature because he himself was very unsure of himself in interviews. As he got older he besmirched Brian which spoke volumes. Brian was the Rolling Stones he started the foundation, Bill Wyman made sure everyone should know that.

Yeah, today we think of the Stones as being Mick and Keith, but back in the 60s it was Brian and Mick who were the principal faces of the band and the spokesmen. Keith was still a shy, awkward guitar nerd who didn't give many interviews and looked like a scruffy George Harrison. It wasn't until he hooked up with Anita Pallenberg that his style began to change, and after Jones was out of the band and had passed on, Keith stepped into the void and started to develop his own rockstar persona that we know today.

Brian Jones created the Stones and was there most versatile musician. He even did the first rock star financed "world music" recording of the horn players of Morocco. mick jagger is a rip off artist of singers and styles not his own, got mary ann faitful addicted to heroin, and treated brian jones badly when jones was dying of addiction and ill health. if jagger was a friend he would have gotten him help. back then in UK they had a very successful medically overseen moderation and maintenance heroin and other drugs health program. that would have saved brian. but jagger is so egocentric and everything, everybody comes a distant second to himself.

Fame consumed him, which is sad, but I think nowadays a lot of the debate over Brian is one sided and looks at Mick and Keith as purely the bad guys who wanted Brian's position as the favourite because it's easy to do that. I do think to some degree that was true, especially for Mick, but you have to remember there were 5 of these guys spending a lot of time together and the cracks were showing surrounding Brian's erratic behaviour. The band would not have survived the 70s with Brian in it.

Brian: We knocked a policeman off his bike... *light laughter* Brian continues: ...must've broke his leg or something *unabashed laughter all around the room* Keith: Yeah, very cool - he was very cool on his bike...until we ran into him! I love how shamelessly they take he piss out of the motorcycle cop, I hate those guys! They think they're so badass, when quite frankly they're the least intimidating (and most embarrassing) breed of cop to interact with.
