You're going to pay your outstanding taxes with your salary which is funded by the people who actually pay their taxes, "I'm not a quitter" the justification for every corrupt politician on why they shouldn't resign and idiots actually have a change of heart following. His salary isn't high enough for him to pay back €2.1 million.

What are we doing! You steal, you're prosecuted, you're punished! Now we hear that a settlement doesnt mean a payment so does that mean no money was collected from all of the others who have "reached a settlement" with Revenue.I sure as hell couldnt reach a settlement with my Rev bill - had to pay debt I couldnt afford but I'm just an ordinary honest citizen, not a lying cheating bastard like MW.Hope he enjoyed his trip to Poland. I'll be picking which utilty bill gets paid this month

My grandfather used to say "unless you have made no mistakes in your life, be careful of stones that you throw". If mick wants to go to the euros then so be it. Everyone has there own luxuries whether it be horses, drink, football or poker. What do you expect? Mick has to spend his money on something otherwise its no use just resting in his account.

supply and demand my friend. Mick was buying for 4 and selling for 12 , then using the profit to buy more, land prices kept rising so did labour as the prices kept rising. The government let this happen, the regulator, let this happen, 0 down, undisclosed income loans. An Irish Farmer get .32 c/ L for Milk yet dunnes Stores sell E1.11 / L. Its all timing but when you in its hard to out, the taxation system rewards growth, stay small . I am small business fighting giants everyday its not easy.

If you can't see the obvious problems in logic with what Wallace said here, then you need to keep re-watching until you do. He had legal obligations and there was an established and understood method for dealing with either an inability to pay taxes, or a delay in paying taxes. Wallace cannot claim that he was ignorant of this and that his intentions were still honorable and his actions justified. His statement doesn't hold up to any examination. Instead he is constructing a narrative in which he attempts to justify what he did as much as possible. He ran for political office knowing he had broken the law in a way that made him unfit to hold office. He still failed to take personal responsibility when this was disclosed (and not by himself). He lost 35 to 40 percent approx of his 2011 vote in the 2016 general election.

Ah ye that's different.Your husband has to pay or else go to court or jail. The law is the law and it should not be broken unless you are member of the dail, government or mega rich sports star.

Cant beleiev he says the company "made a mistake". bullshit. He knowingly and willfully decided to decieve the tax man instead of negotiating his way out of it honestly, and if this news hadnt leaked he'd never have said a thing to anyone - hypocrite.

Well done Mick. I fully believe your statement and am not corrupted by all the other jargon or nonsense going around. I know you are strong in the heart because you are giving half your dail salary to revenue even though you dont have to. You have too much energy and charisma to retire your seat so keep battling while your back is against the wall and enjoy the euros. Prove the haters wrong; Wallace 2012!!!

Fuck sake what did Mick Wallace do different to that anyone else that was in his position he ran his company to his best ability and failed as did thousands of other company directors in ireland big fucking deal at least they tried.

Wallace ran for election to the Dail, knowing full well that the tax fraud and PRSI non-payment should prohibit someone from holding political office. And the 'what about so and so' in another party doesn't excuse Wallace for his own responsibility.

That's right his company lost . Your business could go bust to, it does not that make you a bad guy ? does not sound like it either your a father and working hard to make ends meat. I have was self employed in Ireland 1990 to 1996 , I have been self employed in the California 1999 to 2012. If some fails to pay you will you be able to pay your taxes? If you make investment on a project f3 to 5 year out and if fails will you pay your tax if it fails. Is Mick a Bad guy ? NO, get over it .
