Hi, really great technology, I live in an urban area where there is a constant river/stream moving through the community, I was wondering if this technology can be used for this, we have a power station near the stream, is it possible to connect the turbine to the power grid?

Do you guys do any work here in the States? Just for future reference. I'd like to get a vortex turbine installed once I find a piece of property with the right characteristics for year-round hydro power. 15kW ideally, but 5kW would be enough for any normal household, in tandem with a high capacity power bank.

I've been watching al lot of these vortex turbine video's the last few day's and i was thinking: if U put several smaller vortex turbines in series, for lets say a hight of 2 meters U set five 40 cm high vortex turbines but then make it a closed loop with 1 pump pushing the water back strait up. could those 5 turbines produce more power than is needed for the 1 pump to push it back up? then I came across the most efficient version of these vortex turbines the Francis turbine, these can be fully closed of from air as a bonus on top. several of those in series and 1 pump in a closed loop without air, gives the comunicating barels effect thus eliminating the the hight pressure, to overcome by the pump, then the pump only needs to overcome the flowloss furthermore ya don't need the hight nomore and can place those Francis turbines under a 45° angle on the floor U've got the flowrate- and presurerate- and poweroutput numbers and U can calculate the power needed for the pump to overcome the flowrate/presure i think U can make more (free nrg) than is needed to keep this closed loop running

What about on a river/stream that fluctuates fairly widely and rapidly during rain events? Higher walls?
@TurbulentHydro
@TurbulentHydro 4 жыл бұрын
The Ayung river has significant fluctuations. Just the day after installation, a storm hit Bali and flooded the river (minute 2:00 of the video). Even if the basin gets flooded, the turbine can be disconnected and will simply keep rotating. If you still have running water but lower than normal, the turbine will keep generating electricity, only slightly less than with the normal flow levels of the river. Once the river is back to its normal flow, the turbine will produce at its normal design power. The key is in the plant factor! We will have a blogpost coming soon to explain this in depth.

 @James Crouch I think, you always can install autotransformer with automatic controller that can switch coils to achieve needed voltage. It can possibily be some troubles with frequency -- it must be quite stable 50 or 60 Hz for some applications.

@@ChileExpatFamily We're very sorry to hear you haven't got a reply yet. Have you checked your spam folder? Usually, provided the contact form was filled out correctly, you should receive a reply from us within 1 to 2 days. To answer your question, we are absolutely in business. In fact, three years ago we installed our firs commercial prototype, a turbine of 15 kw of power in Donihue, Chile. It was used to test the supply chain, validate the different stakeholders, production and installation, regulation and to test the local market potential. We have in the pipeline projects in Mulchen and Cunco as well. Chile's hydro power potential is immense and we would love to have more projects installed there soon. However, when our customers have been requesting the local permits in Chili (water rights, and others) it seems to take quite some time to get a response from the local authorities. This is unfortunately something it's out of our hands. The required permits also vary greatly per country. However, we know by experience that for micro hydro projects, these permits tend to minimal in comparison to traditional hydro. In other to assess the viability of your projects we need to know: - An estimated height difference and flow - A clear picture of the site where you can see clearly the height difference of the upper and lower part of the stream. In some cases, such as the Green School Bali and a private customer in Estonia they had already all the necessary permits and they had already built the civil works. This can greatly accelerate the installation of the project.

I even called your company internationally and left a voice mail. I live in Los Lagos region. Not in the north of Chile where there is no water. We get about 7 meters of rain in the winter alone each year. No need for water rights where I am. NO One has them for the most part in the south because in the south TOO much water is the problem.
