Everyone knows that Microgreens are great for you and pack a serious nutritional punch! But how good are they? Does the data stand up to some of the claims?
In this video I go over some of the research from the last decade around Microgreens (one video of many)

It is well known that Microgreens have a myriad of health benefits, but are some of the claims overly broad? As a grower, sometimes you need to do a refresh of the data to make sure you are in line with the nutrition!

Hi 👋 I'm a public health professional, a research scientist, and a board certified health coach. And my thoughts are this: I appreciate your digging into the available research on this and pointing out to the public that some companies/people have made some dubious claims regarding all kinds of health products. Unfortunately, the KZfaq censorship has gotten to the point where you can barely talk about official peer-reviewed published research studies 🙄 Anyway, here's the bottom line at the end of the day: if we just eat whole, healthy foods, like microgreens, and all the other veggies, in general you can be fairly confident that this is going to improve your state of health, whether you are generally healthy or have an illness. Either way, your body is going to thank you for providing these vital nutrients. Some people can not tolerate some veggies due to food sensitivities or allergies, and that's okay, that's why we have a large diversity of plants to choose from to consume.

The difference in results between the microgreens grown hydroponically in a proprietary nutrient solution and those grown in vermicompost was certainly food for thought. Time for hydroponics growers to start experimenting with home-made nutrient solutions based on vermicasts and other sources of whole soil nutrients.

Hey just for the record: HPLC and MS are very standard pieces of equipment used for lab testing. Pretty much every testing lab uses these machine to test against CRM (certified reference materials) to identify if a “sample” (micro greens in this example) have “X” compounds in them. I know it’s a mouthful to say these names but HPLC and MS are really common tools. 👍

Thank you for this overview, I appreciate any data on the subject. May I suggest, though, that you try and convey your feelings about your subject a little bit better ? In most of the video you come off as on-guard or on the fence about the research, using words like « bold claims » doesn’t help your overall message… So maybe in your next video, just figure out what your message is and then try and convey that message in your tone and choice of words so that one doesn’t conflict with the other ? ❤

Very well done and informative video, new subscriber here! 1) I suggest cutting out some pauses in the video. I don't mind, but ppl these days have a REALLY short attention span, so the less video fluff between sentences, the more likely you'll retain attention from new viewers. 2) can you please do a video on which microgreens are best for which vitamins and/or minerals? For example, if I remember correctly, sunflower microgreens are really good for vitamin E. I want to produce a variety of microgreens that give me a variety of micronutrients. Thanks and good luck with your channel. I'm sure it'll blow up soon!

Hi frans. It's completely person dependent! Just think about what you would like for combos in a mature salad. Combos are the same flavor combos. Sun shoots go with everything Pea Shoots are very specific Radish/Mustards only add if you want spicy My go tos are broc/cabbage/sun for salads

Is anyone offering a grow system that produces microgreens on a daily harvest-and-eat cycle? I don't want to produce a great big tray and then have to try to keep it fresh for two weeks while I chow through it - if I have to be looking after the crop every day, I want to harvest and eat fresh every day, the same as I did when I had an outdoor vegetable garden.

Just throwing this out there and I certainly am no expert (am just doing some research now on this topic). I am assuming you are just trying to provide for yourself or a small family. If you want them as a daily part of your diet it's a bit easier to plan out imho but still doable no matter what your trying to accomplish. From what I'm seeing they can be harvasted on a weekly basis (I think you can let them even go to 2 weeks but don't quote me on that) so you could do smaller (variety trays if you choose and whichever size trays you prefer) trays that give enough harvast for that day and start another tray(s) however many days later so that you have your harvasts coming whenever you want. So you would basically be having plants at constant different stages and have a rotation. Example: these seeds were just sewn, these are at day 1 of actual growth where you can see them sprouting, these are at day 4, so on and so forth. I hope I am understanding your question here otherwise I just did a whole lot of yapping for no reason 😂.

Great video, a lot of big words, you are much smarter than I look...hahaha. All this info got me thinking about the 'power of the placebo' in all this. If a person ingests anything which they think in their minds and maybe even know in their hearts that it is healthy, they will become healthier by default, the power of the mind is not to be underestimated. Any thoughts anyone?
@AlexanderCorey
@AlexanderCorey Жыл бұрын
We are the placebo. I follow Dispenza's work closely. It's not by simple thought alone though. You actually have to believe it. Have to act like you are already healed. So antioxidants are not necessary at that point (except maybe the building blocks of your antioxidant systems) - but most people can't stay in this state for long
@drew-shourd

@@AlexanderCorey "We are the placebo"...brilliant. That is true in life, no matter how bad things might seem, even if they are real to that person, the law of universal attraction is my powerful than water. After 21 surgeries, most on my lower back and both feet (I am 56) I still smile all day, spread kindness and say out loud (the key to truly vibrate the words...) "I am blessed, I am thankful, and I am grateful". I wish more people knew the power of positive thinking, speaking, eating, watching, listening. The network news is full of fear and hate, the popular food spots are serving poison. The owners of these corporations are heavily invested in the stocks of the pharmaceutical companies that make the poison, their doctors give them, to heal the effects of the poisons they absorb, either nutritionally or vibrationally. (sorry for the rant)

@@AlexanderCorey Rewatching this, as I gear up for my second year growing MG's. I am in SW Michigan, where a burger, fries and a beer constitute a 'meal'....as a retired Cher from Los Angeles, my culinary thoughts and experiences are a bit different...hehehe, yes, an uphill battle here. I also sprout beans and lentils, grow my own cannabis from seed as well. I tell my MG customers that 'beans sprouts' commonly food in Chenese cuisine is a true sprout, where alfalfa sprouts in the store are actually micro greens, and that true sprouts have the tap root only. I grow mine on three layers of silicone mat and am able to harvest BOTH the sprout, i.e. tap root and the tops, it's gotta be healthier right? I also don't stress on trying to get every last husk outta them either, I tell my customers that they are better than Metamucil...hahahaha...

Placebos are powerful when people can actually vision what they want. That is because every bit of us is imagery. Atoms are neither solid nor physical, so neither are we because we all consist of 7 billion billion billion atoms. We are literal holograms says the physicist Barbara Brennan, who wrote many books on the subject, the first one being Hands of Light. We are 100% electrical energy fields that radiate as images. Every part of us is an image being created, constantly. It is the details that make a difference. The more a person can specifically see as a vision what they want, the more they will create what they want as an image. Because we are holographic images, we are always creating what we want with our thoughts, which are imagery first. Before you say words, you imagine with images. Then the words will appear. These words may seem jumbled because I haven't read any books lately. I used to heal myself super fast just by focusing on being healed already.
