Good day Mr. Diggs. Thank you for this very informative video. It has helped in my case somewhat... Although my case is a bit different.. I'm using a Logitech gaming headset which is plugged into a headphone/mic splitter jack. The headphone line from the splitter goes to my controller headphones out (Denon MC4000) and the mic line goes to the mic input on an external USB sound card plugged to my PC. In VDJ - I've assigned a mic input to the USB audio device. I've gotten the mic to work in the mix.. although there is a bit of static on the line once I boom down the mic to turn it on. I don't necessarily need to record at this point. Since the headset has a switched mic boom I don't need a physical button to map it to to turn it on.. I just leave the Mic on on the Master in the software and then boom down the mic when I need to... I'm guessing the way you've mapped the mic to your Spin, once you hit the Automix button (in order to activate the mic), it activates Deck 3, and deck 1 won't play, right ? I my case I don't want that... I'd like to have the mic on whether I'm playing deck 1 or 2. Which I can achieve by leaving the Mic on on the master... So so far so good [I hope I'm not confusing you here :/ ] ...My challenge is that I would like to use the EQ10 effect on the mic input to set it adjust the sound accordingly. Is there a way to do that, without assigning the Mic input to a deck or without having to turn on the effect on the master ? PS - I tried to assign the mic input as Line in 1 as you did - but it pops up an error exclamation saying "license needed". I don't have the Pro License (only the license specific to my controller). TIA.

Thanks for watching! I think deck 3 and deck 4 should be able to play simultaneously with decks 1 and 2. Switching decks or activating the mic input should not mute any of the other decks if you've routed the mic to deck 3 or 4. Regarding Mic FX pease visit the VDJ forums. I'm using an AudioBox 1818 as my sound card. Output 1 & 2 are mains. 7 & 8 are headphones. I want to use input 1 as microphone. I only want to route the mic input to the mains output. But cannot figure out how to do it. I can do it in Mixxx DJ software easily but not in Virtual DJ

Thanks for watching. Please do your own research but I found the reddit post below and it seems the DDJ 1000 may not route the mic through the software. The only way to be 100% sure is to buy or borrow a DDJ 1000 and test it for yourself. As I mentioned in the video the Vestax Spin 1st Gen and the Pioneer DDJ ERGO are two controllers I know that can route the mic through the software. I have AKG P120 XLR mic and Pioneer DDJ 800 controller, but I can't connect my mic to controller. Can you help?

You need to do research on the 800 but as I mentioned in the video not all controllers route the mic input through the software. MOST controllers just pass the mic input DIRECTLY to the master output bypassing the software altogether. Here is a forum post about the DDJ 400 which I'm assuming is similar to the DDJ 800 stating that the mic input is NOT routed to the software: forums.pioneerdj.com/hc/en-us/community/posts/360042825532. You have to find a controller that routes the Mic input through the software. As I mentioned in the video the Pioneer DDJ ERGO and the Vestax Spin 1st Generation are two controllers that do this.

The microphone cannot be directly added to the software mix with the DDJ SR2. Like I mentioned in the video most controllers, even expensive ones, route the mic straight to the master output bypassing the software. Here is a solution for the DDJ SR2 being discussed on Reddit. @@newlevelsoundsskn7149 You'll have to buy a controller that natively supports routing the line/mic in through the software. As I mentioned in the video the 1st generation Vestax Spin and the Pioneer DDJ Ergo V and DDJ Ergo K are controllers that can do this. There are more out there but you will have to research them and make the best decision for your needs. Thanks for watching!!

I don't think the DDJ 800 is capable of this. Check the Pioneer forums. I think with the 800 it just routes the mic in and out through the controller bypassing the software altogether. It's important that you do your own research on this. There are a few controllers that can do what I demonstrate in the video. The DDJ ERGO and the 1st generation Vestax Spin/Typhoon are two controllers I have used that can do it.
