I have purchased many of the Access courses from PC Learning Zone and would highly recommend them to anyone interested in learning Access. Some of the advantages I've observed from these courses include: 1. They are all taught by the same instructor. 2. The lessons are clearly laid out and reinforce good habits and techniques. 3. You are always building off the material you already learned, as opposed to jumping from concept to concept. 4. It's easy to go back and re-watch the courses as a refresher. 5. You can just watch the videos and learn so much before working in Access. 6. You can go at your own pace. This program is much better than any college course I have taken on any software. In my opinion... this is a better investment for learning. The only disadvantage I can really think of... is that my work will reimburse for "accredited" college courses, but not programs like this even though they are much better.

Thanks, Raymond. I appreciate the kind words and the review. Yeah, I've thought about getting "accredited" but there's a LOT of red tape. I'd have to have a college degree myself but, alas, I'm a college dropout. I have a couple semesters under my belt, but I left school to start a business back in 1994, and I haven't looked back. I'm all self-taught from books and trial-n-error.

This lesson about beginning to use Access 2019 encourages me to take more advantage of the program. I do have Microsoft Office 2019 Professional, including Access 2019. I have used Access 2016. I have been using Microsoft Access since 2002 when I bought my first computer that I call my keyboard. This tutorial enhances my desire to take more advantage of techniques with which I have discovered by myself, and new ones I never knew before.

What an incredibly well presented tutorial, it really does simplify the process of creating tables, queries, forms and reports, with a no nonsense approach that combines clarity of speech and clear visual descriptions of the tasks involved, my only issue is that I have a database that was created in Access 2007 and I am now considering taking a subscription to Microsoft 365 and am unsure whether I will be able to open and use my old database or will I have to build a new one in 365, and if so is this tutorial relevent to the access database within Microsoft 365. Thank you for an excellent tutorial.

Thank you very much for the compliments. You shouldn't have any problems upgrading from 2007 to 2019 (365). And yes, 99% of the material in my lessons hasn't changed. Aside from a few naming changes (Memo to Long Text, for example), Access is almost identical from 2007 to 2019.

Very clear presentation - head and shoulders above the others I have viewed. Thank you! I want to build a simple customer relational database: customer, contact, and perhaps one other table. I will happily pay for the necessary courses, but there are so many options on your website that I am confused. I have the latest version of Access. Any guidance would be greatly appreciated!

If that's what you're looking for, I would recommend my normal, regular, Access course. Start with Beginner 1, and then go to level 2, 3, 4, etc. I focus mostly on customers, contacts, and those kinds of things. 599cd.com/ACB1

Hi Rick! This is really useful. Thanks! Quick question: Can Access forms be sent to customers or colleagues to fill out and automatically feed into the database? I am trying to figure out if MS Access is a good tool to manage and track collaborative project work by collecting inputs from different team members (where several team members need to carry out the same actions in different projects). Would very much appreciate your advice on that. Thanks!
@599CD
@599CD 2 жыл бұрын
Not really. You can use something like Google Forms and have their responses saved into a Sheet, which you can then import into Access... but no... I wish Access had something like that. They used to have a feature in the past that kinda did something like that... but it didn't work right and they removed it.

No. A report is based off of a table or a query. You don't combine one type with another.

In order to add column history for every time you update a field, select Design View. Be sure the data type is "Long Text." Then move down to the Field Properties tab and to the bottom where it has Append Only, then change No to Yes. Be sure to save the table before you switch to datasheet view.

@@599CD that’s awesome. My parents had a friend Steve Esterling that made them 4 MS access databases in really 2000 , Steve passed away in 2005 and in 2014 my parents brought me into family business. I noticed system seemed old I did research and it looked like FileMaker has more technology for expansion! I’d like to get into access tho to get a different perspective and also more clients for my database i currently sell in FileMaker.

Sir I have a question .. it may be my fault of designing my database ...but question is here .. in access I made product table with rate.... in real world there are need to change rates frequently in the same product ... but in access all data are live and if i change rate that effect to past data also.... what is the solution ? past data is record and we can not change it by any means. So please reply and oblige me.
@599CD
@599CD 4 жыл бұрын
I do this ON PURPOSE in my Expert classes to teach people how NOT to build their databases. Then I show them the fix. It's much easier to understand once you've made the mistake. You don't want to pull that rate from the linked table. You're going to store it TWICE, once in each table. You'll need an event like AfterUpdate and DLOOKUP to pull the value from the table it's listed in and then store it in your second table. See kzfaq.info/get/bejne/hL6XotCIrZqmoX0.html This way if the rate (or product price, or whatever you're looking up) changes in the main table, all the child tables aren't effected. Yes, it's duplicated data, but in this case that's NECESSARY.

@@599CD sir thank you but i cant do it. My question is frequently changing particular field or fields without effecting past data. means the effect will take place on new data . same product need changes multiple time its value(rate) .. so these is related to time effect data. access is changing live all data. so is there any command to update data that take place on next data.
