so you walked through MDT for 1 hour and 30 mins but then added to a WDS server then deplyed via Hyper-V. I'm not sure how that ending connects to the begining of the entire video.

Great video! i am an hour in. Stuck on the part where you "Update deployment share". I get an error saying "There is not enough space on the disk" , yet the VM I am creating the MDT in, has 100GB hard disk. Any idea? Edit: Scratch that. I've sorted it. Just needed to extend the volume as 40Gb was unallocated space

When creating New Deployment Share in Workbench, I get Access to the path is denied. Permissions to the shared folder applied correctly as far as I know. Please advise.

Great Video, thanks Mike!!! I have a query, Using PXE boot how do you get computers on a LAN to pick up and start a deployment over the network? I don't have a server or domain setup and don't really want the computer to join one, just benefit from the image deployment.

Yes you can you this with different manufactures and models and drivers. I suggest looking to into the "total control" method for driver management.

1) @33:38 - how do you set the directory for the office installaion files (.\Application\Office-19x64\office) or (.\Application\Office-19x64)? 2) How do you keep it up-to-date? 3) @1:22:48 - if you capture that deploy W10-1909-A-vm1, can you use it to deploy a new VM, but have it take less time?

1) I have a video on deploying Office 365, it's availble to patreons at the moment, but will be availbe to all soon. 2) I have a PowerShell utility that I use to keep Office up to date. It's on my GitHub. 3) Yes, if you create a 'golden' image and then deploy it, it's much faster.

Hi Imran, thanks! For the MDT server I just have 4GB for RAM and for HD I have a C drive of the standard 127GB and a D drive for the MDT content of 300GB

So, I would want to assign a task sequence to multiple computers and have it kick off automatically. Do you have a tutorial for that? Also, I would want to set the boot order to network boot on every machine in case I wanted to schedule a task sequence have it come up at reboot. Do you have a tutorial for that as well? Thanks!

If Im a help desk and Im asked to deploy images will I have to configure everything on my owbn? Im slowly learning this, will I have to download my own image to deploy? I know you can download an ISO from Microsoft but I think those are only good for 180 days.

Hi Galvin, I've followed the steps in the video to configure a task sequence for Win10 Pro 21H1 but when I run the generated LiteTouchPE_x64.iso file on HyperV VM, it always shows a cmd window saying "A winpeshl.ini file is present, but no commands were successfully launched. This could be caused by incorrect formatting or an invalid executable name. Please consult the documentation for more info." Would you know why this is happening?

Yes, you would put the username, password and domain in the Bootstrap.ini UserDomain=contoso.com UserID=mdt_admin UserPassword=lamepassword SkipBDDWelcome=YES

Hi Mike, Thanks for the oustanding video. Quick question: when it comes to the "Quiet Install Command" how come they are varied, for example, with 7zip, its different than for the Adobe. How do you determine to use the right command line for each application

You just have to look for "silent" or "quiet" install methods for whatever software you wish to install. It can sometimes be a quick google search or can take some work to figure it out.

@@MikeGalvin Thank you! I'm planning to try this once I can go back to work. Do you think the deployment and the script will work fine with the 2004 build? I'd like to make a fresh install for some PC at work to test it. This new build has some features which can be helpful such as the bandwith limit for updates. Up until now, I've been using the default Win10 iso from Microsoft, but I learned via your video you can customize things that ease things up.

@@firechikara It should do. There are some issues with 2004 but it's in the MDT Build and Capture area of things. You *should* be fine, but I haven't tested myself just yet.

What is the purpose of MDT? Can someone give me a scenario when would I want to use this? I watched a few vidoe and reviewed many articles, yet I don't get the purpose of this. There are detailed steps how to do it and whatnot, but what is the purpose? Thanks!

MDT or Microsoft Deployment Toolkit is for building and deploying Windows images. It's been around since Windows Vista (or at least I've used it since deploying Windows Vista). Previously I used Symantec Ghost with Windows XP and 2000.

I will be starting a new role which involves using Windows MDT, adn as I have no knowledge of this software, I was pleased to find your youtube channel. I have followed your video upto importing the operating system and it fails at this point with "could not find a part of the path "C:\........" This is the a path to the ISO i have mounted. I've looked at it - seems cool! My reason for not using it in this video is Chocolatey for business has a cost and I'm focused on doing it all with MS provided tools.

So do you have videos that expand on this? Creating images go further than installing chrome and adding drivers. What about adding company shortcuts, adding specific files to the C: drive, adding in permissions in the local administrator groups. Are these doable?

Yes, you'll have to convert the .ESD file to a .WIM for MDT.

Hey Mike I followed your steps step by step and the when i load the os using LITE ISO it didnt seem to follow the rules that were put it in. the only thing i didnt boot was skip bdd in boot ini file could that be the issue

@@kunikhouse8314 Hey there, so the Skip BDD goes in bootstrap.ini and the other rules go in customsettings.ini. It shlould work then. :)

What's the point of creating directories for each application in deploymentShare$\applications ? Can't we just copy the installation files directly in Applications ?
