Yeah, of course X-Plane has this model but I think they realize creating a new version of MSFS every few years just isn't viable anymore although I wouldn't rule it out, the conditions to create a new release would have to necessitate a fundamental shift in rendering and realism and I don't think that is realistic right now.

Ha so you probably spent 5000Euro i did so much bought a new graphic card but new cpu I9 and Still everything gets blurry and pc gets loud like hell i tjink its always bottleneck you cant have the right computer with every dtail with all on Ultra and so on this Sim kills every system Xbox even that one whräen i play i fall back to desktop after half an houre. Details are nice but if you have to switch evrything to medium what is it good for buying all zöthe hardware. They shall start with Multicore usage i have 12 Cores and 11 are not used by Fs2020 why do they tell us to by good hardware if the Sim isnt using ot than?

@2:29 - OK that's cool. The cockpit instrument on the lower-left is an "S10" instrument from LX Nav. I have one in my glider - nice to see it (and other LX Nav instruments) being represented reasonably-well in the sim!

Ah, a rare combination of skills. Shame you don't work for Asobo. They started by confusing thermals with "turbulence" and still haven't grasped the connection between thermals and clouds. Of course the various lift effects need custom coding to stand any chance of working within a simulator update loop but Seb Wloch has spent months messing around with an amateur bulk airmass CFD technique which has absolutely zero chance of being computable at the level of detail needed.

I hope your expectations will be met because in the current form, the aircraft performance at the low speed regime is not very realistic with the preloaded models, which are supposed to be verified against the real aircraft. The key factor that makes Condor2 such a successful soaring simulator is the multi-player integration. Soaring alone is boring but being able to race against other gliders is why people continue to support Condor2

MSFS is a basic “introduction to flight” sim. It is not and never will be the “best glider sim in the world” nor does it have a mandate to. Expecting more is setting yourself up for massive disappointment. It is to be used for basic maneuvers and a rough approximation of thermal and ridge lift hunting. Stick to your glider sims for the heavy duty stuff.

@@DoctorShocktor Interesting opinion but you don't really know anything about gliding or implementing flight sims. The code to implement reasonable thermals is about half a page, and what Asobo have in SU11beta is equivalent to saying "we'll add wind for yachting" and then having the wind at sea level continuously cycling between 0 and 30 knots every 30 seconds. Yes, it's wind, but it's a bizarre made up Asobo version of what they think the wind does as if they haven't asked anyone to check, and it's not really suitable for yachting.Thermals aren't complicated things, they're just columns of air rising into clouds. Asobo has invented vast areas of air all moving upwards which is going to mess up all aircraft, not just gliders.

Those are decent ships (well, in real life the DG-1000/1001 is a bit of a "truck" in terms of handling; but its still better than many other 2-seat gliders). :-D

I've stated this publicly: If I ever win the lottery I'm going to buy every 2-33 in the US, put them in a field, and BURN them. :-P :-D They served a purpose back when they were made; but now they don't teach people how to fly modern sailplanes, they give new folks a very negative impression of the sport (as old, slow, and clunky), etc, etc. Getting rid of them would be a net positive for the future of the sport. 🙂

The LS8 at least is a very sensible choice for a first glider to include too I think. Hopefully the selection will be widened in the future too.

I'm interested in seeing if the 3rd party gliders will work OK with the changes to the thermals etc. being made to introduce the MS ones. Same goes for the implementation of helicopters. will we be able to do away with AirlandFS?

Agreed. The green roads are a total disappointment. This is Bing Maps. When I switched to the google maps addon, everything looked 100% better. Too bad that extension is a bit glitchy. When it did work, best vr experience ever!

@@DoctorShocktor OH, and I also still fly FS9 from time to time, and I have Airhauler, and PSpassengers for that along with about 4 or 5 more addons which by the way work perfectly well on windows 10. Have you ever played Air hauler or FSPassengers? If not you should take a look into what you are missing. Flying around landscapes after a while gets real boring real fast. OH, don't purchase Airhauler for the latest MS flight sim, it doesn't work, but for me, and FSX, everything works like a charm. No hassles, and no crashes, and works right out of the box. Airhauler allows you set up your own cargo company. Advance your skills, purchase aircraft, and hire A.I pilots to collect the cargo, and deliver it to all over the world if you can afford larger more expensive jet cargo planes, and expand your company all over the world. You work delivering your cargo while you can radio A.I pilots, and selecting their jobs if you are into the hands on approach to things. Also the addon makes sure you follow the rules of flight meaning bumpy landing, head long into a storm your cargo can get damaged (along with your plane), and your rating will drop like a stone, and this also includes you making sure the A.I pilots you hire are decent enough to be apart of your company. You have to consider fuel management for your company. Make sure you have the funds to actually keep your planes flying not to mention all of the other incidentals you have to worry about. Also, I do know that there is a version of Airhauler for the latest MS flight sim, and I also know that it doesn't run properly, and crashes constantly. Now this isn't MS problem but it only shows that just because something is new that the addons I have played for many many years is worth dropping. FSPassengers allows you be a pilot for a large company, and fly passengers all over the world, and that is if you are qualified, and once you do qualify you have to tend with what real piolets have to content with. This new MS flight sim, it has what FSX has but better, and I'll grant you that but I'm not into eye candy, and a few more other tweaks. I have been flying MS flight sims since 1982. You are in love with the new, and improved, and I get that but that is not what I'm about. I'm not into fancy, never have been, and I just don't jump onboard to the next big thing Microsoft puts out.

I have a RTX 4090, you don't need that card to enjoy good performance. I had a great sim experience with my previous RTX 2080 card. I hope you do purchase MSFS, if you like flight simulation you'll not regret it!

I just dropped a 2060 Super into my rig up from a 1050Ti, and the performance is night and day. I actually enjoy flying MSFS now as I don't need to have it set super lower for it to run now. It can handle the sim pretty well now even at 4k and the 2060 Super is a hell of a lot cheaper than a 30 or 40 series and doesn't try to catch your house on fire like the 40 series is doing with the melting of power cables.

That’s all nuts, I’ve been flying MSFS with a bloody 1080ti for years now and it’s perfectly adequate in all ways. Certainly no reason to not use it while waiting for a super duper mega photo realistic card.

Enjoyed it how turning down everything i have a 2070 Super Rtx and in some areas are a slowmo show. I wish all i spended on my hardware would have made it perfect but on High settings i still have freezes lags and blurrys.

@LieorDie24 I went from 2070 super to 3070ti. It's definitely a world better. I am not sure why folks got the impression I didn't already own or played msfs2020. Got it at release , even own hp reverb g2. I stopped playing it for a long while, though. Was just not happy w vr performance. The 3070 ti helped, but I think a 4090 ti will bring the sim the level of game play originally intended. If you can swing a 3070ti or higher, you will get a huge increase in performance! For me, msfs was/is something I really expect a smooth VR experience. It's really getting close! Too bad gpu prices are still stupid expensive. 😒

There isn't much between them in my experience some areas look better in google maps others bing, just depends on when the image was taken. Best bet if you want to compare it to where you'll be flying just search for it in bing maps and google maps and see which looks better. Personally, hasn't been worth the hassle of setting it up, and think mods like WeLoveVFR and GAIST (Global AI Ship Traffic) mods add more benefit. Hope this helps mate 👍

Seems to depend on where in the world you are flying. One thing it does fix for me are the green roads.

Imho Bing map 'latest' looks better than G maps and the outdated ingame Bing version.

No. The google thing is a total pain in the ass to install and maintain and no where worth the trouble in comparison to the perfectly fine Bing maps.

There are instruments that the gliders use to identify how strong wind gusts are in small areas, indicated by a beeping noise that steadily grows louder. So your aim as a pilot is to find the beeps and circle them with half of your wing to get lift and stay in the air. I'm a paramotor pilot in training so I don't know too much about it, but it's really interesting and worth looking up.

Checkout @pure Glide on youtube, good content. You can hear the Variometer beeping in his video, I wonder if the MS on will beep.

You can still use FSX and there are soooooo many add-ons that you can buy to make it look almost real. There is an endless amount of add-ons for FSX both payware and freeware. I used Orbx's world mesh's for FSX that cover the entire globe and it made it look and feel pretty real at the time, plus you don't need an internet connection to fly as you can fly it in solo mode with Aerosoft's real world AI traffic that has real world routes for it. Like I said you can do this all in solo and have it feel real, I mean they still use prepared 3d to train pilots as they haven't moved to the new MS FlightSim yet. Not sure if you've had in the past or have tried all those add-ons (Which I still have btw.) but there are some pretty good looking, real world aircraft for FSX as well that are study level. Sky's the limit in FSX, just all depends on your budget! Best of luck out there!

could be misleading. models with just a few functioning systems can be high quality too, and planes with nearly all of them functioning can be of poor quality. we settled on "study level" to describe models with most if not all systems working as the "real life" counterpart.

@@RSProduxx the same could be said for study level... who decides if it's fully accurate or not? There's no official rule to define it. Any term that might connect simulation to real life should be avoided. This has always been the most important disclaimer in flight simulation gaming (not for real flight or operations). Kids can use such slang of course but it should not be used officially by pros like OA imo.

It IS a dumb term. MOST “study level” items in professional simulators relate to DEEP, DEEP systems (electrical, hydraulic, navigation options, FMS custom programming,etc) and the failures that may occur. Virtually ZERO flight simmers come anywhere near the knowledge or even the use of these systems. It’s a dumb “internet” battle point.
