In this video, Neil demonstrates that you can easily attach a macro to a button, and have a document emailed to you. The text file with the two macros can be downloaded here:
ktr.bz/WFSubmitMacros
Remember, any time you add macros to a document, you require your users to permit macros to run, which could be a security risk. Discuss the use of macros with your IT professionals!

Very helpful Neil - thank you! As an alternative option, is there a way to just pull the data from the content controls and have it populate the body of the message, rather than attach the whole document? I'm thinking of an inspection form where it's nice to have a formatted document for the person completing it, but the recipient really only needs to see the content entered.

Neil this is unreal for novice macro user. The short macro works great but keeping getting error messages with the longer version that doesn't require any email input. I copied the macro directly from the site. If I can get this to work my questions going forward would be: 1. can the macro be set so that a generic email program can be used rather than it being specific to Outlook. This way the responder can use the email program that resides on their device. 2. Is there a way to show that the doc has actually been sent 3. option to save their doc on send.

Hey Neil. I was so excited to find this explanation. I built the script just as described. It worked fine the first time, but now I get a Runtime Error . . . it seems to have an issue with the line ".Attachments.Add Doc.FullName" - That's the line highlighted when I debug. I'm using Word 2016 and the file is saved on my Work One Drive for Business (I'm operating with local programs, not on web). Any ideas???

Hey Neil, thanks for the great video. I am looking desperately for a solution and I am already wondering that nobody has asked this already. I want to create a Form in which you can fill out a page and if necessary you can dublicate this exaxt page by clicking on a command button. I am nearly succeeding in creating the right macros, but my problem is that this button won't stay on his place, because above of it I placed a "content control element" which contains for certain choices two written lines and pushes the button down, so he needs to be embedded and stay where he belongs, for gods sake!!! So I really do appreciate an answer from you. Best regards

Hi. Great video.I would like to ask for something: (Re "No-option" code) 1. I'd like to ask if it's possible to add command to prompt user to "Save As" document every time they want to click on "Send" button. Now once it saved it will email document with the same name even if I make some changes (changes will be saved in attached document but with the same doc name). 2. Many people said if it possible to add some message that email has been sent etc. I've managed to change command .send to .display and as least outlook stops there and then I need to click "Send" button, which gives me change to see email before will be sent. Thank you

Hi Neil, this video is great. Thank you. I have created a "feedback form" in Word 2010 and am required to save it as a .dotx file (I am studying and this is part of the instructions I need to follow for a project assessment) The "no-option mail sending code" you provided works great. My problem is that part of my project is to also create a web page in word and then I need to link the feedback form to the home page for completion and submission by visitors to the page. Upon testing this link, I noticed the form opens in a brand new document and when the '"Submit" button is clicked it does not automatically save the new document and email it, but instead only opens the "Save As" option. Can u perhaps help me with a code that would automatically save and email any new documents opened from this .dotx template?

I have one "to" addressee and one "Cc" which works fine, but when i tried to 2 additional "Cc" recipients, I can't get it to work no matter where or how I add them in. I've tried all on one line not separated, separated by semi-colon, colon, comma, space, and I've tried 3 separate .Cc lines, but that resulted in only the 3rd recipient actually receiving the email; the first 2 .Cc recipients didn't receive anything. Hi Neil, I've been going crazy over finding a way to save the file according to certain criteria that was answered within the form. For example, taking the form in this video, I want the "save & submit" button to save the document using the name and date fields, like so: "Current Policy Initiatives - Neil - OCT_10_2013.doc." To make things a bit more complicated, however, each field in the form is a "controls" feature from the developer tab, one of them being the "date picker content control," and the other "Rich Text Content Control." Is there any way to make this happen? I've searched everywhere and cannot find a solution, so if you can help with this that would be awesome! Thank you!

Hi Carlo, Unless you're trying to do something complicated with it, you'd just be creating two more buttons with the same email script, but with different subject and body written into the email. Shouldn't be hard, but the person who submits the form would have those buttons available, too.
