Can you use the Microtech ultratech as a hard use work knife long term update and cleaning

You can use hot water clean it out , then use rem oil and soak it up , then compressed air . That’s what microtech tells you to do

Great video illustrating how phenomenal these knives are. Soaking with oil and spraying with air works in a pinch but honestly, spending the $7 on amazon or ebay for the bit to disassemble is the way to go. Take 15 min and a q-tip to clear out all the grime. Learn the spots to lightly lube and it will function better than new. Any other type of folder really needs similar maintenance a time or two a year. These are fun and practical edc tools, if you can clean a firearm, you can maintain these.

Good update vid.! Thanx bro.! I've been carrying mine to work every day. I do hvac. It gets dirty fast. I've been using clorox wipes to clean mine. Squeeze some of the juices from the wipe into the knife & sling it out. & then I flush it out w/ oil. It's been working pretty good so far. I've been using the wipes to clean other knives for a few years now w/ no discoloration or anything. I was carrying a 940 for the past 5 years but for the past few months I've been carrying my ultratech, thanx to your encouragement & I'm finding it hard to carry any other knife now. Good looking out.

My bro-in-law bought a MT OTF some years back and I was instantly smitten. I bought a Combat Troodon. That started my mild knife addiction. I am probably up to a dozen knives now from my OG Buck 110. My current desk knife is an Olitans 024 (boxes and food) and my EDC is a weird gravity knife Paragon Warlock which has issues better covered elsewhere. My Troodon is currently guarding the interior of my safe. I have settled on a folder as the best knife out there, pb washers, thumb studs and a frame lock is just plain bulletproof. But as a semi knife nut, gotta have weird stuff like the OTF and my gravity knife to name but a few. Tis part of the fun.

The ceramic rod on sharpener is perfect to bring the edge back damn near to factory while not damaging the blade profile which would jeopardize your warranty IMO. Will continue to touch up with ceramic rod until I need to send it off. The built in 20° angles on sharpener work extremely well for other knives. Highly recommend it to anyone.

If I wanna hold a tv remote I'll hit my lazyboy. Otf's are ugly, nonergonomic and pointless cause flipper tab knives still deploy faster out of pocket.

Ya I have a love hate relationship with them. I’ll get one then sell it. I’ve done that a couple of times. They are more of a fidget toy

@ScotchNThings It takes a while to figure out what we really love. After awhile I found button or liner lock flipper tabs specifically with great ergos to be the pinnacle of pocket knives... for me.

You are not supposed to use any type of liquid lubricant on a microtech and the TRUE way to maintain their otf is to remove the glass breaker and simply blow it out with compressed air then if you absolutely have to lubricate it then powdered graphite is what you use... you're actually better off running dawn dishsoap and hot water through it than a liquid lubricant...

Weird, the user manual that came with my microtech, from the people that made my microtech and invented my microtech say to use liquid rem oil.... but what do they know?
@kevinAuman12 жыл бұрын
@@nateb9346 that is hilarious, id love to see that actually because I used to work at microtech in bradford PA and any otf we got in for repairs was due to people using liquid lubricants and we decrease them blow them out properly how you are supposed too and then lube with fine graphite powder and they work 9 tines out of 10 but occasionally we would have a broken spring but I own quite a few microtech knives and none of directed me to use rem oil so maybe yours is special lol

@kevin auman it must be special, one out of a million! Bc i have my microtech manual in my hand as we speak and it says in the cleaning and maintenance section, to use an.. "occasional drop of rem oil". Lol. How about I post a video on my KZfaq showing you to prove you wrong 😂

I’ve had a few other models the combat troodon and scarab 2. As an edc knife they are great but don’t work for me in a dirty environment.

If you buy a Cobratech OTF you wouldn't have to worry about voiding your warranty opening it up to clean it is 5min top & doesn't effect there lifetime warranty.. Microtech=Over priced Junk.
