Interfacing with the high voltage inverter from a Panasonic microwave. Useful for projects like vacuum tube Tesla coils (VTTC), radio transmitters, induction heaters, or any other project where a microwave oven transformer (MOT) might be used. With only the addition of a simple 555 timer circuit, you get a variable constant-current 100-400mA 4.5kV DC power supply. Be safe; these things are extremely dangerous.
UPDATE: The output section consists of a 2-diode, 2-capacitor full wave bridge doubler. The diodes can be reversed to produce a positive output. The inverter is a flyback topology, so the output can be half-wave rectified without a problem. Placing both diodes in parallel and reusing the capacitors for smoothing gives twice the current and half the voltage, which is better for most vacuum tube applications.
