Thank you for such a great video essay! As a big Tribe fan you were on point with all your facts about the band. My favourite Tribe album is Midnight Marauders. I was 12 years old and wanted my mom to buy Enter The Wu but she wouldn't because of the parental advisory sticker. So she bought me Midnight Marauders instead. I loved every minute of it and played that cd over and over again. I know most of the songs by heart. Low End Theory is a classic too but Midnight was my introduction. If you disagree, don't put poison in my mash potatoes, lol.

You should do a De La Soul deep dive. You'll probably have to resort to KZfaq for most of the albums given their label (and sample clearance) situations making a majority of their stuff unavailable on streaming save for their most recent two. But De La definitely needs more support and praise. Real scummy how Tommy Boy's been doing them with regards to giving them control of their material.

@@Avonbarksdaleable I remember that for sure, I had opted in to receive the email with the discography. They did that because even back then they were still having the issues they're currently having with getting their back catalog officially released, so just out of love for the fans and because they're awesome dudes, they said fuck it have it all for free (though technically it was all their albums from 3 Feet High to Stakes Is High plus a greatest hits compilation. The Grind Date wasn't included). I wish I had donated to the kickstarter for "And the Anonymous Nobody", though.

I love all of their albums and have been listening to all of the albums this past week. A Tribe Called Quest are my top 10 favorite rappers of all time. They don’t get enough credit for their music and they have the most unique sound. They are known for their jazz style sampled beats. I knew Phife Dawg had diabetes since his younger days, so he had died from complications of that disease. It broke my heart when he died, so the group minus Ali Shaheed Muhammad made a comeback album We Got It from Here... Thank You 4 Your Service. The group brought back original member Jacobi White who left the group during their debut album for culinary school. Also, it was their best comeback album I ever heard, so Ali Shaheed Muhammad wasn’t on the writing credits. It had a lot of collaborations on the album from André 3000, Kendrick Lamar, Jack White, Elton John, Kanye West, Anderson .Paak, Talib Kweli, Consequence, and Busta Rhymes. After hearing of all of their albums, Busta Rhymes was on all of their albums. The group has reunited 3 times after their 1998 breakup. Q-Tip and Phife didn’t always get along with each other since the two became lifelong friends. I advice people to listen to their music if you haven’t heard it yet. These guys were in their prime and made great music for all generations. I hope Q-Tip will make more music since the record labels don’t wanna promote him. It’s a dirty game in the music business. I would have wish they made a collaboration album with OutKast; that would be dope.

My favorite group of all time, I've listened to every main album, and even a lot of the more hidden gems, every album is amazing, even the ones other people don't like as much. Good vid!

My favorite rap music ever. I love their whole discography, but Midnight Marauders will always be my favorite. Doesn't matter if I've just had the worst day of my life or the best, Midnight Marauders always feels like the perfect record to put on in the evening after a long day.

I have yet to get into their work properly (have listened to the first half of Midnight Marauders once), but I knew Q-Tip wayy before ATCQ because of his contributions to the amazing Chemical Brothers tunes Galvanize (2005) and Go (2015).

They are not at all underrated. You werent alive when they were at their prime in the early 90s and so was i. They incredibly loved and adored by many and revered a new style of hip hop. They inspired a lot of people
