Mid Iowa Control Liner's Control Line Contest in Polk City. Held at Big Creek State Park. June 13-14.
What a good time to get out and see where ya' stand after practicing PAMPA stunt flying.
Humid weather and a real good turnout for this contest. My first time there.
Brought home some prizes and all my airplanes were intact. Mighty fine weekend and learned so much.
A motivated Shug

I know, it's been 5 years since you made this video Shug, but, better late than ever. Your enthusiasm for control line is awesome. Taking the time to create these fun videos is impressive and appreciated by the likes of myself. I have seen you in person flying and you are just as funny and happy as you are on your videos so the "showmanship" is not fake. I grew up watching a neighbor fly control line and my brothers and I would sit and watch. There was no where else I wanted to be. The smell of the castor fuel will always be in my memories. Thanks again and I hope that you are still flying. In watching some of your other videos, it's obvious that you have a varied amount of interests and hobbies!

This type of aircraft model flying is the type I flew back in the late 1950s. Yep, right after the dinosaurs left. Brahaha! Very glad to see it has had a following still today. It can be some of the most thrilling, frustrating, or devastating flying to ever be had. I never got to the combat type of flying. That had a streamer attached to the tail and the two would fly trying to nip the streamer off the others tail. Great stuff, thanks for sharing. SUPER GREAT FLYING LITTLE LADY AND GENTLEMAN! Wished much, much success in C/L flying! Oh, almost forgot, I subbed and a high five!

I tried to fly U control airplane's, then somebody introduced me 2 Estes model rockets. . .and the 200+ sport competitions flown with 13 mm and 18 mm rockets so you go to a meet with 50 to 100 other rocketeers ...and you can complete with duration competitions parachute duration streamer Direction egg lofting duration competition... then there's drag racing with two or three different Rockets. Altitude competitions rocket glider events sport Landing is some of the competitions that are fun... multiple rocket engine competition altitude payload competition everybody has to fly a certain amount of weight to certain altitude...you have grown men and there family's that will drive a cross the Country just to fly in as many sport rocketry competition events that they can get to...so you spend all winter in your spare time building Sport Rockets for competition events...then some people with pull a small trailer across the USA so they can complete in rocketry events. . .so you put a 18mm Rocket up to over 2000 feet...and then recover it in one piece and that is a competition...then there are multi-round events where you have two rockets that are built as identical to each other as possible . . .then you launch the rocket lets say a parachute duration with a large parachute but very light usually made out of a silver foil type material so it can be seen from the ground, you launch your rocket with the highest impulse motor that you can possibly fit into an 18 millimeter rocket to 1500 ft altitude the parachute is ejected from the rocket...and two judges using high-powered binoculars well watch your bird until it can't be seen anymore...then the time stops...because this is a multi-round event you can fly up to three times but only two of the three flight times are counted. . .and at least one of the two birds have to be recovered...in good reflyable conditions...most Birds are found sometime during the three or four days competition event...so nothing is Left Behind for littering....

Great flying & a top flying field with nice short green grass (& full marks to your grounds keeper) - soft green grass is something we seem to lack on our dry old field in Australia. Also noticed the wind was non existent / quite calm on the day of the video shoot. Do you have problems with upper turbulence or buffeting from having trees fairly close to the field?

We had a guy at our club a few years ago we nicknamed the wanderer. At our old club gound, the circles didn't have a concrete centre as a reference point & the guy was walking unconciously towards the trees when he hit one smashing his stunt model against a outward hanging branch - LOL
