You've told me you get mid-roll ads in my videos.
I hear you. I believe you.
Now, I have proof that what you're saying is true, and I've sent it to KZfaq Partner Support to assist in their investigation of why it happens.
I want to see this resolved as quickly as possible so we can all continue to enjoy our favorite content on KZfaq without interruption. In the meantime, if you use the official KZfaq app on an Apple mobile device (like an iPhone or iPad), you may need to temporarily use an alternative site or app so you aren't startled awake in the middle of the night. For my content specifically, check the description of the video you want to use and you'll find a list of links to other platforms you can try.
If anyone from KZfaq is watching: as you can see, I could really use your help. Though I am frustrated, it is not my intention to be antagonistic or accusatory. I simply need to be honest with my viewers about what's going on and give them a temporary workaround - even though it means my views and revenue will take a hit. Let's fix this.
⭐ IMPORTANT UPDATE: By using my video and some additional diagnostic information I was able to provide, KZfaq's engineering team found the bug! Unfortunately, as of May 2024, they don't have an update on when (or if) it will be fixed.

I haven’t ever gotten ads still to this day. It’s also crazy how the entire video is filled with complaints. It’s goes to show how much of a problem this is.

Fortunately, you're in the majority. Most people don't get ads. 🙂 But you see why I put all those complaints up there: way too many people get ads, and it is indeed a problem.

Some pretty bad actors picked up on the "noise" thing a few years ago and have been flooding the market. They're just in it for a quick buck. There's no attention to detail, no quality control, nothing. They're just seeing how much they can make and how quickly they can make it. Those are the kind of jackholes who put mid-roll ads in ON PURPOSE. 😡

yt premium is a little bit of a sad boon. it's sad they run it like this and then you gotta fork out for the premium. and treat us this way instead of putting the control in the hands of the creators

I've thought through this so many times and gone back-and-forth... it's impossible to know anything for certain since we're looking in from the outside and speculating, but at this point, I believe this mid-roll problem is not common knowledge to most KZfaq employees/contractors. They're always genuinely surprised when I bring it up. The question, then, is: how do I get in front of someone who will direct resources towards fixing it? I'm working on that from two different angles right now and intend to see it through.

Your voice is amazing and soothing and I just started using your videos especially front porch screen rain and it has been wonderful so far as an iPhone user I have not had that happen to me when I do I will let you know and yes a lot of users say totally add free and they are not …. I see one before bed and the other never because I’m up before it plays thank you so much your channel has really made a difference in my life

It's hard to say. Obviously, no one I've spoken to at KZfaq would want to admit to such a thing directly, and no one has. But I also think the most likely explanation is that someone, at some point, did tell the development team to implement this garbage, and now everyone's forgotten about that and is truly surprised when I report that it's happening - because it just doesn't make sense. If mid-roll ads are disabled, they're supposed to be disabled, so how could they be happening anyway? It's been a wild ride, and I don't even know how far we've gone yet.

You say a majority of us don't get ads... but considering how many of us use your videos to sleep, we can't know that for sure. I know I could possibly sleep through an ad, as I only have difficulty *falling* asleep, not staying there. Makes me wonder exactly how shifty KZfaq is getting with this.

You raise a good point! However, I pay very close attention to my analytics, and there's no way I'd have a 70% return viewer rate if so many people were having their rest disturbed. I agree that it's probably more than I think (not everyone comments or votes in polls), but I still think it's a minority. That's not important, though: minority or otherwise, we need to figure this out.

Hi DJ! I've been using your low panning brown noise stream to sleep basically since you started doing the streams, and the 12 hour video before that! I'm super grateful for you. Sorry that this has been such a thorn in your side for so long, but I'm glad you were able to at least figure out the majority of who is affected by this issue. Hopefully that can help youtube pinpoint and fix the problem (if they actually feel like fixing the problem, that is.) Thanks for everything you do!

I'm glad my work has been helping you for so long! It's cool that you made the move to the live stream version. I know it glitches sometimes, but network connections do hiccup. I do my best to keep the jams pumping. 😂 And yeah, this has definitely been one heck of a problem. I've sent KZfaq Partner Support this evidence, along with exact timestamps for when it happened, so I guess we'll see what comes of it!

So, out of over a year of listening almost nightly, I’ve only ever had 1 ad on your videos. I watch on my Roku thru the KZfaq app. I do watch them on KZfaq mobile but not as much.

I understand why I don’t get those mid roll adds everyone else is getting, I have premium. Mainly I got premium bc I wanted to go to sleep to ur videos w/o the annoying ads in the beginning of ur videos. Truth, I really want you to make a paid add free app. Please consider it, it’s worth it to some of us!!!!

I am definitely considering it! I am a software developer by trade and could make one myself, but I definitely don't have time while I still have a regular 9-5 job. I could hire someone else to do it, but I'm currently in the process of forming a business and funding it, which will take several more months to sort out. Either way, though it's probably inevitable, it's going to be a little while before I can offer a solution that doesn't rely on someone else's platform.

I watch your videos on my iPad at night and get the adds around 6-6:30am. Thinking I’m about to go get me a homedics sound machine, do you have these videos on a different platform that we can go watch and not get the adds, I’m new with tinnitus , 7 weeks, still trying to figure out what will help me. Here is an interesting thing I’ve found. I listen through a Roku box. I’m happy to report I don’t get ads from you but something interesting happens at the 6th hour mark. For a split second the live feed stops and like it’s lost signal and then starts again. Now this is one of your live feeds and I found it interesting that this happens at the same six hour mark as the ads. Make of it what you will. 🤷‍♂️

Hmm... on a live stream? That's unexpected. However, I now know that the various apps have weird extra triggers coded into them, so it's entirely possible there's something like that in the KZfaq app for Roku. Strange, and potentially very disappointing, but I really couldn't say...

This probably doesnt help, but i have a roku tv in my bedroom and no matter how long the livestream is, i have never experienced a glitch like that. If it would help i could go onto a youtube channel that is constantly live streaming and test out if the glitch happens there.

@@IrishMapper_sus Sometimes I wonder if KZfaq's algorithm just decides it's someone's turn to be disturbed, and there's no rhyme or reason. It's like things are fine until suddenly they aren't, and then the ads just keep coming. I hope that doesn't happen to you!

If anyone is using KZfaq more than a couple hrs a day - make the investment and get premium... I'm never understood it! YES they keep raising the price pretty consistently but ads are pretty much the worst and it cost about as much as a fast food lunch... However, I wish KZfaq would stop being sheisty and cut this crap out. Sounds like typical corporate money hunger. "oh no! Better look into this issue... Very.... Slowly..... For... You...."

@@whitepunksvevo1343 After studying this problem for like a year and a half, I've come to believe that they didn't realize they were doing this. I've talked to multiple KZfaq employees, and they are always shocked about this and they react like any normal person would. They do know it's happening, and in fact it was my recording here that proved it to them because I was able to give them such precise information about when it happened (that conversation happened after I published this video). So yes, they know. The problem is that there isn't much incentive for them to fix it quickly, because after all, an ad played is an ad played. Now, we wait...

OK, so I use one of your "live" feeds every night to sleep to on a laptop using windows. I do not get mid role adds but the video does stop several times a night where I have to click play again which seems almost like it's stopping where an add may be. So no I don't get adds but the video stops for live feed.

The trouble with live streams is that sometimes the feed gets out of sync and will just drop like that. I use live streams myself for music during the day, and while I don't get ads, I do get weird interruptions. There's no perfect answer right now, I'm afraid.

Nope. As explained in the video, I've done everything I can. There has been an encouraging update from KZfaq Partner Support since I published this, but I'm going to wait before I say anything more about it as I don't want to get everyone's hopes up.

@@karenguerro They think they found the source of the bug, but we don't have a timeline for when it will be fixed. There's nothing for me to share until I have more information. Plus, the last time I made an announcement about a solution, it turned out to be inaccurate and we're still facing the problem. Unfortunately, your best bet is to follow my advice in the video.

Unfortunately, a lot of my viewers don't really understand how to configure their devices like that. In addition, I'm sure you're aware that KZfaq has been working to prevent adblockers from working on their platform. For these reasons (and because they violate the TOS), I don't recommend adblockers to resolve this problem. KZfaq needs to fix their code so that it does what it says it's going to do.

I've gotten plenty of reports of other big-name companies that probably don't want to be associated with this problem, but here we are. 🤷‍♂ I was under the impression Kroger is doing alright, especially considering they're still trying to prove it'll be just fine for consumers when they acquire Albertson's. No monopoly here, nope! 🙄

@@karenguerro When do they play? At the beginning, middle, or end of the video? Ads are, unfortunately, fully expected at the beginning and end. However, if they're in the middle, I must ask: did you watch THIS video to gain an understanding of why it happens, my efforts towards finding a resolution, and what you can do as an alternative until KZfaq addresses it?

Not that it matters to me, because I have an android. @@BlingyBea I think he explained it in the video; otherwise, I wouldn't have even known it was possible. Maybe it's in his description. I'm not sure as I left this comment 2 months ago and have a terrible memory. Sorry to not be more helpful.
