You’re right, the act of reading is more important than how many books a person reads. The pressure to read can take away the pleasure of reading, but permitting oneself to read slowly, absorbing all that the text may give, is much more satisfying. I appreciate your honesty, Valerie, and look forward to each video you post!

When I heard about the new release, Immortal Longings by Chloe Gong, I wondered if you might like it since it’s a retelling of Anthony and Cleopatra. Also sparks the question, are there any Shakespeare retellings that you’ve enjoyed? 😊

Interesting! I hadn’t heard of that release before but I do love Antony and Cleopatra! I don’t think I have any specific retelling that come to mind, but Shakespeare has inspired so much that I’m sure some will pop into my head when I least expect it lol

That copy of David Copperfield is gorgeous! Do you happen to know the name of the edition? 🤔 Your Shakespeare era is inspiring me, might crack out my Anthony and Cleopatra copy and read! I've only read 7 books this year, and agree that quality>quantity! That being said, I did slightly panic and think, hm I need to read more, and accidentally started literally 4 books at once because I couldn't decide... 🙃 Gonna try to go back to basics and read one at once and maybe I'll actually finish some books for the first time in a while haha

It’s a Franklin Library copy! Not sure if it’s still in production. I love Antony and Cleopatra!! Please let me know what you think of it if you read it. I’ve done the same this year where I’ve started too many books and then gotten overwhelmed, sometimes back to basics is the way to go! 😊

I don't find Dickens too appealing, for whatever reason I don't feel driven to read his work, except for one book, which is David Copperfield. So, my question is, is David Copperfield a good book to start with Dickens? I know it's one of his best works but the best isn't always a good starter.

I actually think that David Copperfield is a great place to start with Dickens. It’s not his typical third person narration style with a very large cast of characters which can be hard to follow and I think put some people off of Dickens. David Copperfield is a first person narration so you’re following David, and it does have an amazing cast of characters, but in an easier to follow way in my opinion.
