I think Tyler's top experience helped him extremely in the mid lane challenge and if he did mid first then top he would have been playing mid much longer. It taught him how to 1v1 very well and play the game when you're behind or losing to your opponent because of a skill difference or a matchup. I think people forget how much the skills transfer between roles and that top no doubt made him much better in mid

That is an interesting take on mid lane. When I started learning Qiyana , a one trick told me the best way to learn her is through top lane. He felt that if you can handle being alone despite poor match ups, ganks, etc that you'll crush mid lane.

i can’t lie his take on mid is so accurate, top lane is so unbelievably punishing and i always feel outclassed when i play it, where as mid i rarely have that issue

i've been challenger top lane twice (s6/7) mid twice(s9/10) and jungle once (s11), jungle is the most fun, top the most difficult overall because mistakes are punished more and mid is the lane all eyes are on so you have to be more involved with the team. good job tyler and nice vid Midbeast! in regards to the 1% a day thing, I am an investor and try to grow my account by 1% a day, think of it this way, if you grow your account, skill, strength, anything by 1% a day (not always possible, but average) you will DOUBLE your account/skill/strength in a mere 70 days. the power of compound growth!

Mechanically speaking, I would say that there are more mechanically difficult champs in the top lane, but macro is much more impactful in the mid lane. While the fighting in mid lane is “easier” since you can roam better. It can also be pretty challenging since there is a stronger jungle presence.

I understand his point though, it's true in a sense that if you HAVE that macro knowledge already, it just becomes a case of "what's easier to win with, mid or top" in which case the answer is 100% mid. No contest. Mid is only "harder" up until that point because you need to have a good understanding of waves and priority, when to roam and when not to, good map awareness etc. Top doesn't require the really good macro that Mid does, and isn't rewarded as heavily for it either, plus matchups there are so much more extreme so you're forced to sit and do nothing or outperform with extreme mechanics if you're in a bad matchup. Bot and Top tend to be much easier to gank too, hence why you very frequently see Junglers camping those lanes rather than Mid. Mid has a bunch of different challenges in that it can often have nearly as much macro demand as Jungling does, but what I think Tyler is trying to say here is that once you GET all that, which as a challenger he obviously has, Mid is actually easier to win games with than Top.

I relate to how Tyler1 climbed, I was lazy and just went for gold with troll picks like annie, heimer, and ziggs support, I was able to get gold and stats weren't what you'd call pristine but I would just mute my team and communicate information on the map to them and even if my kda suffered I would let a team know when I saw a blast plant go off on the map or saw a lee just enter into their jg, know when a wave was pushing up, the little things that make a difference.

Yea his time as Ivern in the jungle made him such a better player. He was very ook ook before that, now he's a lot more cerebral and intelligent with his gameplay. And it really showed with how quickly he climbed in the mid lane because that role thrives on those two things.

I usually play top, but decided to go mid after following what tyler said, and it was so much easier mentally speaking. I didn't have to worry about being counter picked nearly as much, didn't have to worry about jungle, could care less about wave management, and had more gun games even if i may have lost them. In 2 days I went from low silver 2 to gold 4 after being hardstuck silver for months
