The commander in chief of the S-L-A, General Antoine Lahad, was verbally attacked on Wednesday by former S-L-A soldiers waiting at a transit centre near Metulla.
The former S-L-A men and their families, who crossed the border following the Israeli withdrawal, were waiting to be taken onto the main transit camp set up for Lebanese refugees at Amnon Bay at the Sea of Galilee.
They shouted at Lahad in Arabic, accusing him of deserting them and letting them down.
They said they wanted to return to their homes and now they could not.
Lahad looked visibly shaken by the verbal onslaught.
He arrived in Israel on Tuesday night and planned to visit refugees in the camp.
Following his hostile reception, these plans may now be rethought.
General Lahad established the S-L-A in the 1980s and has controlled it since then.
